At our cabin... this pic was after more than 2 gallons (easily) of seeds poured out of the case, and I'd cleaned that up. After having the gen looked at by 2 techs... not good. The mice had totally destroyed the wiring harness and replacing it would cost more than the unit is worth. Add to that, if a new harness was installed, it's likely the mice would have chewed the windings too (and would find out then), etc... :headbang::headbang::headbang:

The techs both said the last 2 winters have been crazy with many folks having equipment destroyed by little bastages...

    Freaking rodents.
    :hair:

Seems every spring I've gotta figure out what they chewed up on something.

We've "re-located" at least 20 mice so far this late summer and fall, here at the house. There were 5 mice, that I saw, when I opened the generator case in the cabin's outhouse. Three re-located and I'm sure the other 2 moved back in when we left. The damage they also did inside the outhouse shows they've been busy.

Yeah... that "damage" is mostly pi$$ & chit running down every nook, cranny and corner of the outhouse. We've got to clean it up somehow. Any suggestions? Besides burning the whole thing?

I had them get into the plenum on my car and truck this summer. Got off with 2 cabin filters replaced.

Eliminate the first word, and make it a statement instead of a question and there's your answer.:hair: 3 fried mice, 3 fried mice, see how they run.............

I think if you eat a big bowl of chili and drink a six pack of beer you won’t notice the mouse smell the next time you use the outhouse! :fart:

I work at an auto dealership, recently got a job that said no air from left side hvac vents, smells like mice. I go out and as soon as I open the door the smell of death punches me in the face. Pretty much need to gut the truck to get to the hvac plenum. The more I took parts out the more damage I found. A 2017 f250 with 1430miles was totaled by the insurance company.

I get them in my shed... I hate them! And they stink to high heaven when they die inside.

I mostly poison them now, but they just keep coming...

Sorry to hear about your nice Honda.

Snap traps. Keep emptying and resetting until they don't snap.

I dislike poison due to secondary killing of whatever finds the bodies.

peppermint oil keeps them at bay. or fresh cab supposedly but I've never used fresh cab.
To get rid of the smell, I would try natures miracle, use it liberally.
I hate them too, they ruin my tarps every year.. I always seem to find the hole they chewed on the coldest weeks of the winter
and the wood is wet and frozen. Chippies too. I shoot those with my .22 though when I get the chance. Good aiming practice.
