The reason I would use a two syllable word is the training aspect - some say one syllable for dog names, I've done enough breaking and training to figure out one syllable gives you nothing but a shout to get their attention - something to do with voice inflection from multiple people.

if he leaves you a pile of pellets to pick up tomorrow morning I'd say you brought home a rabbit.
If you have to break out the rake....then the name is settled I'd sayo_O

Reminds me a lot of when my girls were little, I had so much fun with my two girls while they were growing up, still do have fun with them and they are 41 and 39 now

I favor beer names. Mickey, short for Michelob. Bud or Buddy short for Budweiser. You get the idea...

Emmett. Good old fashioned two syllable name.

image.jpg My wife and I are from Mass but we frequent the white mtns of New Hampshire a lot. I'm a backpacker and one of my favorite places is Tuckermans ravine on mt Washington.
When we got our 3 mo old boxer in 2008 we ran through names like your doing now and Tuckerman is the name that stuck. Go with your gut.

We have a two year old GSD and we named him Titus. For some reason I like that name.
You could also name him Megatron. That would be cool. Or Fluffy for the irony.

Her hair is a hot mess in that pic. But she is a cutie pie. :) She told me that she wants to "Hold him, kiss him, and love him forever"

:D… you are so right to hold on to these moments as tight as you can.

There are times now tho, that my 35 yr old daughter can still melt my heart. I too am blessed.

    I dig Murphy..

Still digging Raker also.. Ruger.. and Scout. All of those keep running through my head.

When we got Oscar, he named himself. He was a grouchy puppy the 1st few days. . Therefore, "Oscar the Grouch". :)

Trying to let this guy name himself. But all last night, all he has done was Whine.. I don't want to name him Merlot.

It's funny the beer names came up..
My aunt and uncle would get bunnies for their daughters and they all got named after the beer boxes they came in - Lady Schaeffer, Lady Busch, and Michelob ...are the ones I can recall.

Sounds like a little separation anxiety with the pup, it's hard to resist the urge but getting them kennel trained from a pup is a whole lot easier than trying it after they are 7-8months.
Billy Bob still doesn't know what to do when I put a leash on him let alone when I put his collar on him - you'd think I beat him for a week when he gets a tick collar in the spring or when he dons the blaze orange one come hunting season.

You were going down the wine road and I had to google it.
