I just have them out side out of the way for now. I'm going to do just that as suggested.
Matt, My area is kind of tight. I'm not worried about the propane tank…At $5.00 a gallon, they are "BANNED" from putting propane in it, and in accuality it is getting removed here shortly. As you can see there is a slope in the yard and I'm gonna do as both of you suggested and build a platform to get behind the hive. It was just a nice day and time to get them out:). My Mentor is coming over Monday after work and he is a semi-commercial beek so he'll get me in the right direction, He raises bees for his own fields and trees:cool:.

By the way, "THANKS" for the encouragement:D you all have been great:thumbs:

Hey Matt, I was at an installation today, "just got back" and happen to find out my bees are coming from North Carolina, "not sure where though" They will be here around the 10th, next weekend I presume. :D. I had about 50+ bees on me today, not 1 sting:yes:

Not sure? When I find out I'll pass it along. I didn't listen carefully but it sounded like a smaller organization, I'll know by the end of next week.

My wife got stung in the privates on a summer day while driving on the highway. I don't know where a worse place is to be stung; on the crotch or on the highway?

Im actually a couple weeks late:emb: but in my defense Ive been working seven days a week for most of this year. Spring has definitely sprung down here the bees are buzzing and its been a couple weeks since we've had a fire going.

I got a call from my mentor after I wrote the above, Thats exactly what was going on and also there were a lot of orders to fill so the supplier was back logged. The local club here ordered twice the nucs as normal, I guess more people are taking up bee keeping:)
I'll get pics if it's not to late when I get my bees home:cool:

my one hive is on the very verge of dying out, maybe 150 bees. the queens abdomen looked damaged at the end. frostbite? she is laying but barely.
the other hive is about to explode with 4-5 frames of capped brood. i am crowding them trying to make a queen cell that i will transplant into the dying hive. some drone cells are already present so it shouldnt be long. bringing back heaps of pollen but not much nectar yet. my apple blossoms just started opening up yesterday.
hows the weather on that end of the state today dave? overcast chilly and breezy up here! when it clears up they will be doing orientation flights like crazy. may be unsettling for the first couple days but they will settle down.

Sunny, but chilly and blowing 30mph+. I'll be putting the girls in the hive this evening if all goes well, They are still in the NUC. I really don't want to disturb them in this kind of weather. "any thought's"?:popcorn:

have everything prepped and map out a plan in your head so you can be quick about it. some like to spray with sugar water so the bees are busy cleaning themselves. smoking them is not likely to help since you are pretty much turning their world upside down. try to remain slow and calm but steady and deliberate in your movements. dont mix up the frames when moving from NUC to hive. hope it goes smooth for you. dont wait too late into the evening but im assuming you cant help this. you should take a video to share with us!
