62* .....thunderstorms this afternoon....80* all of next week.
The only thing this year that has been normal is the UNnormal.
Got a feeling these temps will cause those d@mn stink bugs to try n find a place to harbor even worse....

We reached a high yesterday of 85* and this morning it was 38*. We had the house closed enough last night to keep heat in and not have to get a fire going this morning.

Fuzzy buddies woke me around 3:30 AM having a who can drink louder competition,  and sure enough, the temp made it to -10 C or 14 F. It's already warmed back up to -2 C or 28 F, and we should go up to +5 C or 41 F by afternoon.

We might be getting a bit colder here, but I'll take that over the snow I see in your photos any day!

Temps have been banging up and down here along with occasional rain. Mornings are 43F to 55F depending on what front has just passed through. To me that means that when it is cooler the furnace comes on for a bit in the AM. Not so the Wif who is always freezing. Up til now I have managed to hold off requests for the "First Fire" but She is pretty sneaky! For various reasons we were not able to have the carpets cleaned during a period of warm dry weather so that we could open the house to dry everything out. We were finally able to schedule a cleaning but it fell during a cool wet period. Uncharacteristically, my Wif did not seem to mind. When the cleaning was done she suddenly announced " Maybe we should have a hot fire to dry the house out. That way we won't be running the furnace! We can open some windows and that will help clear out the first fire stove smell and also allow the moisture to escape. Further, you could burn all the chips, bark and uglies and not even have to get into the beautiful wood shed." Well we have had a fire all day for three days running and the house is all dry. I said " enough fires for now" but, unfortunately, I think that particular horse has escaped the barn and is now frolicking in the back forty! Wif has already carted a wheeler of splits into the garage and is bugging me to split a couple buckets of kindling. Talk about an ambush!

Mid 50's F. Burning one stick of poplar at a time just to keep a warm room to come in to from outside chores. Taking the pool down today.
