Not here, as far as we know it could all be a medical experiment. Since it seems they never work for the flu of the year.
I am a retired RM, I always get the flu shots. In my age group, anything that "may" lessen my chance of getting the flu, or worse yet, infecting someone else (especially those with compromised immune systems) is worth the little pin prick. Around here, the hospitals won't allow staff to work around patients if the staff member hasn't received a flu shot. NO exceptions. Visitors are asked to stay away if they don't have the shot. Lots and Lots of hand washing is mandated. Face mask worn when flu is active. Remember, flu is respiratory, and you can't get the flu from a flu shot. If you know someone who says they did, chances are they already were infected at the time of their immunization. If they had nausea and vomiting, diarrhea then they had the so called stomach flu which is not influenza. More likely the Norovirus.
Never used to get it. Then one year came down with it which turned in pneumonia. Have gotten it every year since. The couple of years I have come down with the stomach virus, the effects lasted only a day or two. At my age, I'll take my chances getting the shot. My way of rolling the dice.
I work in a school and so I get the shot every year. This year they aren't available until the end of October. I don't know what the kids have right now but we have a lot of sickness going around the students already.
Not sure how many years I've been getting a shot but have not had flu since I started getting them. I'll continue.
I drive a bus route am and pm as well as teach all day. No way am I NOT getting the flu shot! Man the little kids on the bus snotting and sneezing and coughing, shew, gives me the shivers thinking about it! Good luck all of you in whatever you decide.
I do not! I got it one time and I got sicker than I have ever been in my life, spent two days laying on the bathroom throwing up. My wife who is an RN tells me that I was allergic to the preservative that they use in the shot, I guess you can get a preservative free version but I am not willing to chance it. The flu seems like a walk in the park compared to the “allergic reaction” I had. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Never had a flu shot, never had the flu (KOW). Probalby helps that I never had kids to bring it home to me - but at the same time coworkers usually save their "sick days" for "sanity days", so come in with all the stuff their kids have given them . I've known some people who got extremely sick from the shot (in the hospital several weeks). But I've known other people who have never reacted in any way to the shot. I don't have an agenda - get a shot if you want, it just isn't for me .
To me it would make more sense to have them available at the beginning of school but up here they don't seem to show up until the end of October - beginning of Nov.
Took me a minute to translate the British...we call a jab a shot around here. Never got one. Probably never will.
I've been getting them for around 6-7 years now. Do they work? Maybe, I guess so. Do I want to find out by not getting one? Nope. Kinda like full coverage on your vehicles or homeowners insurance......hope you never need them.
