I've only heard really good things about the 570 engine, and it's in a tried and true chassis. Some will say it's underpowered, for a utv/ SxS, but if your using it for work and non high speed play, it's plenty powerful. 44 hp and good low end tq. There's no power steering, but that is a minor thing IMHO.
I don't anticipate any trail riding what-so-ever. Ate enough dust back in the 80's when we used to go. It would be used for boat launching, and an occasional jaunt into the woods. I think I may have passed up a great deal on a new one (2018) now that I've seen some asking prices on craigslist.
Not a Polaris, but I just seen an ad for a new JD S X S this afternoon (while watching the Stihl Timbersports show) they have heat n AC on it now! (and 3 wide seating!)
Slow and expensive though. The ranger 570 is a bargain. Those other ones are pricey. Super pricey actually. The ranger 570 is barely priced over the Chinese off brands.
Down the floor and out the door for around 92 hundred-mid sized one. Maybe I should've pulled the trigger.
If " Pull-ur-arse" utv's are like their sleds they are comporable to buying a chevy aveo...........................
I don't think I'd need it...? But then I said the same thing about the extended cabs on pickup trucks.
There is a reason Poo-laris are usually the cheapest option.....it's because they are junk. Will they get the job done....yes, but you get what you pay for. The Japanese and can-am's are better rigs hands down.
That's funny. But not really true. Polaris really are not the least expensive option, however in this case it's a value buy, using a tried and the chassis, with their own newer prostar engine. Now, if you want to use the"cheap" word, then look at Arctic cat. Now that Textron bought them out, that might change, but cat always cheaped out on items like bearings. Then they turned around and charged the most for repair/ replacement parts. The Japanese haven't really figured out the SxS market. Honda seems to get it, but don't have enough options. Can-am / bombardier gets it, but their SxS sales are nowhere near as good the other brands. Edit. The can am defender hd5 is actually less money than the ranger 570. 9999 for the canam vs 10,300 for the ranger. But, the kicker is that the canam is a much smaller engine. 430 cc engine on the canam and a 570 cc on the Polaris.
Just looked it up...XUV856M w/ HVAC I haven't been on one yet, but all my buddys that have ridden ATVs w/ power steering say one ride and you are hooked.
I believe the Can-Am and the Polaris are pretty close in terms of horsepower though, the can Am is 38 and the Polaris is 44ish. The CC numbers are a bit deceiving. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I also looked at a can am defender. It had power steering but was for the rest of it, very similar and close in set-up....only around 1500 more.
My point exactly...........that is why you can't give a "Pull-Ur-Arse" atv or utv away in this area. Those and Artic Cat are, without a doubt' the 'bottom feeders" at the "Big Boy" toy stores.......................... Resale value tells you all you need to know about what is quality vs. what is "lesser quality".
Ok Horkn since I'm basically lazy, will you give us your top three side by sides, don't need high performance speed, more of a work vehicle. Your knowledge about TOYs is impressive. Thanks..
So far I've not liked the side-by-sides. But in time I may have to get one as it gets harder to get on and off now after 3 hip surgeries and the bad back.
Which one of the others ATV have a step through? Can Am? My Uncle bought one cause he had hip surgery and couldn’t get his leg up and over the seat...
