Two police ladies were next door talking to my neighbor. Evidence suggests that the neighbor across the street, who has a food truck, backed into my next-door neighbor's truck late last night. IMG_20180930_17666.jpg
He parks the food truck in his sloped yard directly across the street. IMG_20180930_23505.jpg
I've lately been ticked off by the food truck neighbor myself, because when he pressure washes the grease out of his truck, it runs across the street into the storm drain and my driveway.
IMG_20180930_23845.jpg I was thinking of taking it up with him, but now I'll let the truck incident play out. He also put trash with maggots in it in my trash hopper one trash day. Since then I haven't put my hopper out, and have brought my trash directly to the dump, since I go there all the time anyway. I'll do this until maggot and food truck season is over.

I've lived across from him for 28 years. He's gone from being a "colorful character" to just a nuisance. This summer, it seems that things are fraying for him.

    Bad neighbor. Bad, bad neighbor.

I know you swing a mean maul and sledge, but, how's your prowess with a hedge clipper?

You know, the water company came around last week in a shiny pickup and holding a clipboard. I assumed it was because he hadn't paid his water bill, but maybe it was about the storm drain. The city has a water & sewer dept., and the city owns the water company.

Last I knew in our area you had to have a proper sanitary facility like a small commercial space where food prep and clean up is done. Inspected by the local Board of Health. That swill water is not proper in a neighborhood. There has to be a health code for what he is doing.

That guy would burn my biscuits.

I had a neighbor that was a scrap metal guy. Not light metal but engine blocks and transmissions. He parked his trailer out on his street behind our property partly on the our grass that I mowed. His trailer was dripping oil and fluids. He was out cleaning his truck one weekend. I went out and took pictures of the dripping trailer, his truck and the street with oil patches. He asked what I was doing and I told him getting ready to go to city hall in the morning and talk with health board and conservation officer. The trailer left and never returned.

I am a very good neighbor, but when something affects other neighbors, not good.

It was in an area where our kids played with their friends, so it was not a good thing. Ignorance is no excuse. He was well aware of what he was hauling around and dripping off his rig.

OK, I've reported his pressure washing grease activities to the city. They have an online citizens request tool to report potholes etc. You can see what issues have been reported, and no one else has narced on him about this.

You did the right thing. Other neighbors should appreciate your actions. Keep an eye out this week to see if anyone stops by. If the road still shows signs of grease and grime, they'll move in for a closer visit.

Well I think he's been at the Deerfield Fair all weekend, so I'm sure the food truck is in dire need of a degreasing. With any luck, the city will stop by while he's at it!
