I also keep the entire winter supply in the unfinished basement, have for over two decades without any problems. No termites this far north. If we did have them I might reconsider storing it indoors. Much better for final drying the wood and no need to duck around outside in the cold and then bringing all those pounds of cold wood indoors only to waste wood bringing them up to room temperature.
I've been blessed with the traditional New England "hole in the ground with rocks piled in a mostly square shape" basement, so I think the stacks would actually GAIN moisture down there. Between the creek in the back, concerts in both sides, and river across the road, this place was built in a puddle. It must have been built well to have lasted almost 250 years, but at the end of the day, No wood downstairs for me. There are benefits, like never needing to water plants, the great soil, and the wildlife that likes the river. I do like looking at all the nice cement basements full of btus though, so thanks for all the pics!
So you store your winter’s wood in the kitchen, living room, bathroom and bedrooms? I’m gonna need to see some pictures of that!!!!!
I tried bringing a 1/3 of a cord in one time after reading about how many people store wood in the basement with no problems...yep, only did that once! Took no time at all to start finding bees/wasps waking up, spiders, and wood roaches too...etc. It stays out in the attached but unheated garage now until I'm ready to use it...bring in 1 load at a time. I notice that many of you have bark-less wood...most of mine is still bark on, that probably makes a big difference in how many bugs are hiding in there. I don't take the time to remove the bark unless it is loose and volunteers itself to fall off...
Mine is rocks for about three feet with concrete blocks on top of those. Round rocks as found, not sculpted square rocks. I have a one car garage that is built of stones into the side of a hill, too.

Well I came home with some rubber! He has it cut and folded up, with dimensions spray painted on. 50$ a piece, I didn't try to haggle. You might be able to get him down in price, he has so much of it. I got 3 pieces, 10x23, 10x22, and 10x20. It's a little dirty, but he says no holes. It came from a big building, and had stones on top of it when it was roofing. He's getting a lot more soon. Nice guy. House is down a long road through the woods.

You're gonna like that stuff. It'll last for years and years. I got some from my dad 30 yrs sgo. The only problem is when rodents decide to nest up under ut. They seem to like to chew holes in it grrr... I've also gotten some from my Nephew-in-law. He's in the roofing business. I think I need to have him keep an eye out for some as I have a few new racks I'd like to cover. But, i have enough to cover the 3-4 cords I'll be using this upcoming season.
Today we cleaned out the garage (big free pile at the curb, human seagulls descending) so no playing with the rubber yet. I have to hose it off, and decide how to carve it up. The oak vault is first up for a new roof!
I really hate to say this. Be careful. That’s where I got sent to the wrong address and no answered phone calls.. Chances are he’s legit and just sloppy on returning calls. Could be some of my fault too but the gps sent me there. I see no benefit in anyone pulling a scam of such a nature. Just make sure you know exactly where your supposed to meet. And get an extra phone number to reach him.
