The old pachyderm was quartered up an brought home over several weekends. I have finally started splitting it up working an hour or so each day this week before going to my paying job. 80% so far has been no where near easy-going. Twisted pieces, but it all makes BTU's for the OWB.

Got that right. Our first year here hand splitting , I cut to 32" and loading the stove was never easier. Everything else got exponentially easier with hydraulics and a stash of wood that I didn't have to cut and split for the coming week every Sunday, but at least the loading was easy with three footers.
