It sucks for sure but it’s all a part of the process. If you’ve never had an outdoor stack fall over you either haven’t stacked enough wood or you’re way luckier than average and ought to be buying lottery tickets on the regular.

As my property slopes away, I've done this as an attempt to foil uneven ground and gravity.

The round blocks I got from my SIL, who was pulling them up to toss out. I got them before the tossing. They seem to be wide enough to keep the racks upright. Time will tell.

No it's Wood Gremlins. I've seen infestations before and they're not pretty. Looks like yours is pretty bad but manageable. The trick is get 'em early. If you want to get rid of 'em here's what you do.

First you git a chair and park it in front of your wood pile. Do it durin' the day so's not to startle 'em. Then you git yourself a nice pair of pink women's panties and a 12 gauge. When the moon's full you go sit in your chair and put those pink panties on your head. You may laugh but those panties will be your best friend; the females don't like 'em. Right about 3 in the mornin' you should see 'em russlin' around in your wood pile. When that happens, you git up real slow and start yelling, "be gone with you gremlins be gone!". Then you just start blastin' your pile. I guarantee you won't have any problems with your wood pile fallin' over after that.

Make sure to video tape it and post it here. You know for posterity.
