From what I can tell from Internet the house has been foreclosed and owned by a bank. Unless someone recently purchased it technically I shouldn’t be removing anything from the property.
Well it’s bright and early again. Time to get going LOL let’s see what today brings.

I would be hauling until I couldn't haul any more...especially the splits. They would go on my truck and dumped in a customers driveway right away. Seriously, it's almost free money with limited work involved.

    Cooped up inside?

I love being outside in Jan/Feb. Nice bright, invigorating days. The only time I'm Cooped up inside, is in the hot/humid and when it snows sideways.

That's a crazy, amount of wood, and an even crazier story!!

One thing is for sure......that original owner missed out being an FHC member.....he'd have taken the cake here!

Wow! Talk about an amazing find! For sure I'd get all I could. Sorry you had to explain all to the police but it turned out okay. Good. Still a wild story.

Strange days indeed. Been singing Warren Zevons tune to myself all day. “ Send lawyers, guns and money, the sh/# has hit the fan”. Hehehe.
Things were looking good first thing this morning. Arrived to find some young guys/kids attempting to mow the grass. Mind you this grass hasn’t been cut in a very long time. Using a push mower and weedwhacker. So first thing I hop out and talk to them. They must have known something about me as right off the kid in charge said “You here to pick up the wood”? Of course I am. Happy to see me, take whatever you want, yada yada yada. We work for the company that’s going to clean this mess up. You’ll make our job easier.
So we start loading. About half a trailer on and another guy walks around. Not a day over 30. Starts giving me the third degree. Who are you, who said you could be here, so on and so on. Tells me I’m going to have to leave,,,,,,,ok after you finish loading you’ll have to leave. He’s the new boss. The subcontractor had subcontracted the job to the guy on FB. He was fired yesterday for letting people on the property. Me of course
Then he starts asking me if I want to come back for more. I said I guess that’s up to you.

Same thing as yesterday. He wants my number, he’ll call me if I can’t be there. So he’s kicking it up to his boss. I figured it’s only a matter of time before I get the boot. I’ll need insurance,,,,,,of some sort, you know the drill.
Then the cops came again. damm neighbor called again. I’m puzzled, what about lawnmowers and weedwhackers don’t you get? How many criminals cut the lawn first?
Boss man calms down a bit and comes over for a little conversation. Now I’m getting the real story here. Owner of the house has been in prison for running a stolen luxury car ring. Got out of prison on parole and showed up at the judges front door, back in prison he goes. The guys a dentist!!
I opine that I’m just helping him out. It’s gonna cost a lot of money to get all this wood off the property. Tells me they’re gonna get a machine and truck it away. It’s gonna be real cheap.

So we grabbed two more loads of splits. We found underneath the splits were more rounds. I did say none of this guys toils seemed to make any rhyme or reason. There’s still more splits there but it’s getting harder to get to them. We decide to come back for a load of rounds.
Return to find three kids now carrying the rounds out to the driveway. I’m a little flabbergasted. Yep boss man wants these kids to carry over 100 cords of wood to the front of the house. Then they’ll rent dumpsters and the kids can fill them.
Sorry folks, even as a kid I would have quit on the spot. For one get the machine. At least have the dumpster there so your not working twice.
Gonna rain tomorrow, not sure if I’m going back. The best rounds there looked in good condition but once you start messing with them you find just how light they are. The quality of the wood just isn’t there anymore.

What doesn’t make sense. If this guys been in prison so long who put all this wood there? I think the guy got locked up in 2004.

Maybe he had a deal with local landscapers to use it as a dump. That's another way to make a few bucks illegally. Everyone keeps their mouths shut and maintain the status quo. Especially in a town like mine that has a huge grinder for trees and stumps and you're not allowed to take it anywhere but to the town's machine for chipping ( they make potting soil with it - think Miracle Gro/Scotts/ etc with treatment plant solid waste added as fertilizer ). They charge for some things because they can because you aren't allowed to do anything else with it.

That's a good theory. Although there may have never been a deal, the dumpers just knew he was in jail and nobody was minding the place. Although you'd think the cops-calling neighbors would have something to say about a stream of dump trucks going in and out. But why dump splits?
Don't get me started on bagged potting soil! It's half shredded bark and wood! Every brand! Even bagged "compost" and "composted manure"! The only thing I've found without all that filler is baled pro-mix.
