Cheapest place to get booze. Got a friend in Saco that drives to Portsmouth almost weekly. I've only ever stopped once.

Yup, it's coming. Pretty soon Buffalo will be getting about 12 feet of snow, like they do every November from the Great Lakes.

Shop scraps in the stove this morning. Window AC unit are coming out today. This weather is fantastic, the angry hornets are not. Holding off on putting the boiler online for a few more weeks.

I've talked to several folks in MI that also won't drive across the bridge. I love it! Especially in summer when it is hot. Get to the approach and roll the windows down. Soon that nice cool air hit and feels fantastic! Winter time it is pretty with the combination of ice and open water especially if a big boat happens to be crossing the strait as you are crossing the bridge.

Well, it never got that cold where we were anyway. Right around 40 +/- a few. I'm sure the cold spots where there is no lake to help temper the temps got colder.

Upper 40's this morning. No fire inside, as I wanted to clean the stove pipe after church.

Warmed up to the mid 50's right now.

Friday we had a buttload of wind! Drove up to Lake Superior and I can understand just why the "Big Mac" was closed down for a while! Very high waves.

I remember your basement stacks from last year! What kind of wood is going in this year?
I usually pull wood out of the woodshed all winter, but this year I'll be putting about a cord and a half of dry oak in the basement. It's the oldest wood I have, barkless and split 3 years ago. It's on a narrow strip of patio next to the pool, an area where snow melts and refreezes into ice, making it slippery to get to in winter. Also, lots of brush has grown up behind it since it's been stacked, and I'd like to recolonize that area. So, into the basement it goes! I've done one rack so far, and I'd like to get as much as I can moved before this next batch of rain. IMG_20180924_14274.jpg IMG_20180924_23430.jpg

Saw a flock headed south yesterday. Actually, I heard 'em first.
One leg of the "V" was 3 birds, then the other leg was almost 50. They were movin' fast....I figured they'd be near Detroit in about 2 hours from when I saw 'em.:)

30* with some spruce burning. Have had a overnight fire at lest a month probably closer to 6 weeks. At least 3 days a week an all day fire.

Woke up to sunshine for once, and 2 C or 36 F. I'm hoping we can stay away from the rain or snow long enough to let my wood dry out.
