    I was going to rip them in half for the roof trusses but they are a pain to rip. Have to cut both sides and occasionally they have metal in them. Old nails and such.

    Never hurts to over engineer a roof in an area that gets snow :)

    I've always scrounged stuff since I was a kid. Just the way I was brought up. I worked for a contractor moving dirt when I was younger. My foreman scrounged enough lumber to build an addition on his house and I built a lean to off my old shed. All out of dumpsters during the house building boom.

    Dad was a scrounger too. It's in my hillbilly blood.

    I can still remember getting a bunch of bricks from some building that got torn down. Still had a lot of mortar on 'em, and my job every day after school for a while was to knock the mortar off.
    Those became a walkway on the side of the house to the backyard.
    One of the things that turned me into a DIYer.:thumbs:

    It was a beautiful day "FINALLY" yesterday:) I'll be at it again today. Dave, I built it in the traditional pole barn style, but I think I'm gonna do a shingled roof, I had about 2 sq left over when I did my house, "although" I'm still up in the air on it! The floor will be simple Pallets:D, I have an abundance of them . And as far a s the neighbors grand kids, Well first I need to say I love kids:)…… But they are the reason I started drinking early after noon:drunk:…. After the first 974 BILLION questions:hair::hair::hair::headbang::headbang: You gotta love em…:zip:

    I can understand being whooped. Looks like you were going it alone. I did mine alone but had a much simpler job. Worst part was the darn thing not being square. Matches everything else around here.

    Todays update! My A$$ is tired:eek:. $600.00 into this now, I have the shingles and most of the rest. I have to make it hurricane resistant, "no such thing as hurricane proof", so she's built "BEEFY";). Well enjoy… Tar paper going on after work tomorrow and the final touches gonna happen next week.
