I built this stacked rock "wall" with all the loose rock I had laying around the property last Spring. It held up pretty well until recently when I assume a combination of deer and heaving have started to have their way with it. I am thinking of using the cage like screen they use on rock walls next to streams for erosion controls. Then drive rebar in front of each of the 4x4s lashed to the 4x4s at the top of the wall to hold the screen in place. Does anyone have any experience with this?

My brother used something like the wire baskets for a retainer wall along his riverfront property to stop the erosion. It is working really well.
I'm betting that would be normal for a couple years, then it would settle down with only a rare loss of a rock or two. My walls behaved like that for a couple years, but they haven't spilled another rock in the lasts 25 years. Looks good. Is that an odd shaped tree with what looks to be a circle growth?
I have a few small stone walls in the yard here. I stacked them so that each course is set back a few inches from the stones below and into the hillside. They stay put and all sorts of plants and flowers fill in the crevices so it looks more natural with the landscape.
Since you have those posts there already I would put some woven wire (cattle) fence up and anchor the bottom by bending some rebar and driving it into the ground. Would make a good place for growing stuff that likes to climb too...dual purpose.
Yep, posts are there for the tick bag fence and thinking I will do a row of hops on the lower side of the wall.
