Finally got around to snapping a pic of the pile Ive been working from... That pile on the right was just as big as the one on the left when I get them dropped off, been working on the right for the past few months. I had a number of monster logs I had bucked but were just too heavy to lift up onto the table of my RapidFire so my dad came over with his hydraulic that tilts up vertical and we rolled the big ones over and split them that way. After using a kinetic splitter for the past 4 years I must say, theres something very satisfying about the slow steady power of a hydraulic. It was oddly fun to watch it just push into the log slow until it popped apart... I'll post some pictures of my stack under my wood shed when I get a chance. Im hoping to fill my shed completely in the next few weeks (2 years worth) and then stack this winters wood alongside it and leave the shed to season...that'll be a good start to getting on the 3 year plan.
Its two, the reddish one is just over 9 years old and the darker one is just over 3 years old now. Great dogs! Except that they carry off small logs/bark all day long and leave them around the yard for me to hit with the lawn mower
Beautiful dogs. My 5 month old GSD was *helping* me move wood to the shed this morning. Well, she musta eaten some bark or something because there was a big pile of barf in her kennel after I ran some errands today...and of course she was covered in it. Ugh.
Alright then, there they are. Nice piles and good looking dogs too. Have a couple Labs that do the same thing. They're very "helpful", eh?

I would say you have a whole lot of splitting to do. That should make for quite a bit of firewood. Nice.
I feel your pain. When my dog was younger he constantly wanted whatever piece of wood was in my hand. Chew on it for a few minutes then want a new one. Scattered all over the place.
The weather is PERFECT right now...nice cool fall weather finally setting in. The next 2 months are prime wood cutting season if you ask me...cool and dry. The kinetic splitters are great, much faster moving than the hydraulic. It doesnt seem to handle twisted or knotty stuff quite as well as my dads hydraulic, but otherwise it outsplits the hydraulic hands down in my opinion.

They certainly look the part but I doubt they'd do much to protect the stacks...probably run around begging to have a stick thrown for them while the thieves load it into their trucks!
You have a nice property, lots of room for log piles! I'm guessing you are north of me in NH. Did the logs come for your land? And I'd like to see pictures of the shed that will hold all that!
Thanks, we're on just under 40 acres. Yes north of you a good bit, we're just north of Lake Winni. The logs didnt come from my land, no...a tree service company here in town had them stacked and was cutting/splitting from it to sell, but the owner had said he was basically just breaking even, so he wanted it gone. Got it for a song. It should be 3-4 years worth I'm guessing, and thats burning from October 1-June 1 roughly (outdoor boiler). Yes I'll get a picture of the shed and some more of the property too, the leaves are just starting to turn so we'll be in prime picture taking season shortly!
