We burn 80% pine and cedar and 20% oak. I tell people all the time that they shouldn't burn it in their stove because of the creosote monsters. You know because of the flammable pixie dust an infestation creates.;) I also mention that I'd be happy to come by and "get rid of it" for them for free in my creosote monster vaporizing machine.

I have one of those too.
I've heard of this, but always thought it was a fairy tale. :picard:

Yes I see your vaporizing machine at work in your profile picture. Very nice! Oh yes flammable pixie dust is very real my friend. Very real. It comes from the land where board stretchers and left handed hammers come from.

I felt very lucky to have been at a yard sale recently.

I came away with wedges, 8lb sledge, and splitting mall. All left handed! Whoooooo!

If I can't make a cant out of it, I split it very small and use it for kindling. Great score!

I keep those mayo packets from a gas station in my tool box for that reason. I think that junk junk is just soy bean oil anyway.

Nice score. If I was to take all the free pine I came across in my area, my property would be filled. I guess I am a bit of a wood snob, and for the longest time I bought into the school of thought that you can't burn pine inside. Time to stock up on some for shoulder seasons and weekend wood.

When there's just a few tiny coals at the bottom of the outdoor wood boiler because I let it go for too long - pine is great for getting the fire going again. I try to mix it into my wood stacks pretty evenly.
