Sister in law is building a house and needed some locust trees cleared. I've never burnt locust before but I know it sits well on the BTU chart. Picture is of my first load. Probably have at least 2 more.
    ........I think I need a bigger truck

Black locust is good burning right??

Locust is great. The money your saving on your heating bill can go toward the bigger truck.

    Thanks guys.

Found a mint 1995 f250 on CL with the 7.3. Thought about buying that and selling my 150. All for the sake of firewood

You don't want to be downwind when it's burning.

Nice BTU's for you, in a few years.

How much wood do you typically burn a season?

That's a great load of great locust logs. In a couple of years it will be awesome firewood.

What little black locust I come across has my customers almost fighting over it. Burns long and hot. Seasons pretty quickly too. Is hard on chains though but also splits easy.

Is it the wood or the bark that smells when it’s burning? I’m not a fan of the smell either.

I've been taking the bark off mine, don't know if I can keep that up. It's mainly to save space.

I don't know, but for a wood that never rots, its bark does rather quickly, and it smells nasty

Locust....:dancer::banana: Great score! Season it and use it when it’s really cold. It will serve you well.

Despite what the others say, black locust is terrible firewood. I would be willing to let you dump it off at my place just to get rid of it.
