You guys are in store for what we had last night, had ~5" from yesterday through this morning - creek broke it's bank and a foot of water down at my neighbors place. I told him to sell all his campers and RV's and build an Ark down there. That way he can stop waking me up at 2am to save all his toys
AccuWeather has us receiving just over an inch of rain starting tonight, with all the snow we have it should be a mess.
That picture tells the story of what's to come. We might have to call the brook a river for alittle while till it settles down. How far is the brook from your house out of curiosity?
A quarter of a mile and a few large hills between us, so it will never get to our house. I think the brook is about 900 feet above sea level, the hills between us (south & east of the house) run over 1000 feet above sea level .
The Brook came up some but not much, some of the little creeks are trucking along, they are way up outside there banks.
You jinx, this just popped up for our area, we'll be fine. Flood warnings for this area (Gasifier too) just popped up on NOAA for April 9th - 11th. I guess that before picture will be taken this afternoon.
The graph in the picture is south of us, that will be heading this way, you can bet your arse that 7.5 will go up. If you live on the water in a low area along the Raquette River you should keep an eye on these.
Showing signs of a wet year like last year... maybe. Went to bed last night around 9, outdoor temp upper 30's, thunderstorms came through with torrential rains. Woke up to heavy fog/drizzle, 50°F. crazy chit
It's that time of year, I just checked NOAA again, they took the Flood Warning off already, strange. The washer went up this morning, it looks like a Saturday delivery, the old one was just over 10 years old.
I guess I UN jinxed u then. Ur welcome. I have nothing to do with the washer. Mine went 2 months ago, a 25yr old.
Nope, you put the jinx on, it just took some time. http://www.mpcourier.com/article/20140408/NEWS09/704089710
Just a few pictures from the Brook tonight, most of the ice cleared the Brook a week or so back when we had that strong sun with temps in the high 40's.
Its a beautiful stream. Good no ice, but it may rip the ice off the bank when it rises. Stay dry brotha!
We try to keep the Brook clear of fallen trees, we've taken three big Hemlocks out in the last three years. There is a dead Hemlock or Pine that came down in the ice storm that the ice hangs up on, we'll get that out later in June or early July.
