I'll be heading up to the White mtns in a couple of weeks, to the Mt Washington resort, to observe both my wife's and SIL's birthdays. Does anyone know where maple syrup can be bought, at a reasonable price? While we don't have a set schedule for activities, I suspect we'll be spending time on both the east and west sides of the area. We'll be heading up on a Monday morning, for a couple of nights at the fancy red roof inn.
Yep. Been there a couple of times. Good place for anniversaries, and such. You register yourself at Omni, and you get discount offers. One of the few remaining grand hotels. This one is fairly historic, post WWII. If interested in knowing more - Bretton Woods Monetary Conference, July 1-22, 1944
We are heading that way Thursday for a few days. Just ride around, they have sugar shacks all over, go route 2 towards Vermont theres a bunch.
In my experience the prices really don't change much whether you buy it from the side of the road or at a boutique. If it's genuine they are all within a couple bucks of each other. If you are into saving some money- pack a lunch, drive down the road to Bretton Woods and ride the chairlift up for free. Today worth it.
Yeah VT and NH syrup prices are similar around $45 a gallon, slightly, more to buy smaller containers, just an FYI
That's a possibility as I expect to head up to my brother's later in September. We'll probably get some eyes on your new place while I'm up there.
MikeInMa is this the place you're going? Hopefully you payed up a little and got one of the suites. We are staying about 5 miles away and checked it out today along with going up bretton woods (been quite a few times but always in the winter) and went on the cog railway up mount Washington. That was a decent trip.
Yup that's the place. Been there a couple of other times. No suite , but a room with a king size bed. Lots of little nooks and alcoves around the main floor to enjoy a beverage or two. Went up Mt Washington last September on a perfectly clear day. We bought tickets on one of the vans they have. Very enjoyable. Not sure what activities we'll undertake. Weather will make decisions for us.
Sunset at the highest point on the Kancamangus Highway between Lincoln and North Conway last weekend. It had been far too long since we spent time at the family house up there.
Nice. I expect to travel across the Kanc at some point. Will have to make note of sunset times. Guessing that picture was at the gazebo at the hairpin turn. Also hoping to catch some very early leaf colors
