Agreed. The new Coyotes are great, hell the old Windsor platform was more than capable too. Theres been a huge surge of LS swaps in just about everything lately, particularly older Mustangs. I used to crew on a friends 86 Mustang. 430ish" Windsor with a Procharger. Went a best of 6.80 @211 shifting from first to third on that pass and pushed a head gasket out too. Has been strictly 1/8 mine since then.
Plus they sound terrible with aftermarket exhaust when in deactivation mode...about like a 4cyl with a miss, yuck!
The next time I have one that needs swapped, I'll let you know. I'll pay you 3hrs labor. Yes I know the Envoy is not a unibody. "the envoy the entire body lifts off the frame just like a pickup bed... body bolts 3 harness connectors done........" No a/c to discharge, brake lines to unhook, fuel filler neck, or chassis grounds? On the envoy the oil pan had to be changed because it uses a different pan that what the trucks do, more time. 22.2 + 1.1=23.3 hours Here is the suburban that I "made up."
Dang....that’s more hours than I’d know what to do with on a vehicle. But I know you got it figured out 94BULLITT
Lets see an stock LS3 or LT1 run like this. I believe this was an 11-14 Mustang GT engine. This was a sealed engine, like a bone stock engine from a mustang. They use round fasteners on the valve covers, oil pan, and timing chain cover so they can tell if it has been tampered with.
I was going to make a smartass comment about the transversely mounted engine. But I won't. I am going to get my FCA supplier voucher, and see what that nets me for a deal on a Ram. Then I can compare that to the deal I can get on a Ford.
That's funny...when I saw that pic I had to look again what he was working on because I was thinking "I didn't know there was any front wheel drive full size sport utes"...
7.3 Powerstroke goes into an OBS Ford the exact same way. Cant turn it straight until the water pump is under the radiator support. The friends that were helping me thought I was crazy as I was instructing them.
Come one now, at least split it with him!! Pay him 11, you charge your customer the book 23. You both make money. You get a free 12 hours or so profit, you new tech gets a cool 7 hour bonus..even giving hI'm a bit of time for some trouble he may run into.
I test drove a new ram rebel tonight. It was very impressive. This had the e-torque hemi. I'm waiting to see what the invoice and the incentives bring it to. The etorque system was so smooth, you'd never know it was a mild hybrid. It ride great too, quite nice for a lifted truck. I would probably want the ram boxes, and possibly the Laramie longhorn vs the rebel. I don't want a limited because I don't want the air suspension. The air suspension is standard on the limited. There's a crapton of options on these trucks. Some I want, some I don't.
I don't care for the 19 Ram, but that is a nice looking truck. I think the white with the rebel package sets it off.
What don't you like about it? It does have the best interior of all the trucks. The Ford is second and far and way back from those two is the gm twins. I'm talking 2019 gm and ram, and 18 Ford. The Ford design of the interior has been around a couple years but it's well layed out, and simply nice. The ram, it reminds me of Audi. The GM's, well, they look like 10 year old gm interiors with a centered steering wheel, unlike that last gen GM's that had the wheel off center. I wish the ram had the alloy body. I wish the Ford had the rear coil springs. I also like the flex fuel capability of the 5.0 Ford.
Can you even buy e85 in your area? And does it work out cheaper? I have to go out of my way, upwards of 50+ miles to find e85 and when I do its pretty close in price or more than regular e10?
Yeah, we've got a lot of corn here. E85 is available at at least 2 of the stations by my house. One has e15 and e85. The e15 is 88 octane and 5-10¢ less a gallon than the 87 e10. Doing the math with a new 5.0 F-150 running e85 does make sense financially, for me at least. It costs less per mile and it's faster than e10 87 octane. Right now at one station here, e85 is $2.05 a gallon, while e10 87 octane is $2.65 a gallon. 60¢ a gallon. That's 33% less $ per gallon, and I've not seen flex fuel vehicles get that much lower mpg on e85.
