The last loads came up yesterday and today. Very windy yesterday. Sounded like an angry ocean thru the tops of the trees… awesome. Cut the top of the oak and hauled it up. That's it… any other wood I get will be on bare ground. Gonna rain tomorrow… at least most of this is off the ground a little.
Working, pushing papers right now. It started sprinkling. I would like to torch them tonight if it doesn't rain to much before I get home. But I probably shouldn't. I wouldn't be able to watch it long. Will need to hit the hay for a 12-14 hour day tomorrow. I'm swamped the rest of the week though. If I don't burn them tonight, it will be next week at least. Snow is on the ground now. Will be gone next week.
Nice pictures and quite the stack you have now.... How many cords are your guessing? The way you have them stacked, it wouldn't take much rearranging to make a nice log cabin... Just saying... Was that big oak dead? I think you had some ash too? I assume they succumbed to the Emerald Ash Borer?
3-4 cords maybe. Oak and the ash were alive and well. Haven't seen EAB yet but we're only in our 2nd winter here. Most of the ash on the 14 acres seem to be very healthy. There are some dead trees that I'll get to once I get the paths opened up more.
I have. They're 4 season. Ran them on just tracks the first 2 years. But, because of the heavy steering and how much they churn up grass when turning, I swap em out to tires now.
