I got new wood hauler. A Chevy (ack) 1500. The kids are getting old enough to go with me and I can't get them all in my F250 standard cab or my danger ranger. The f250 is a 5 speed 2wd so I couldn't always get out when it's wet/muddy or snow. It sucks I just put a new clutch in and coil spring brackets but the wife won't let me have three trucks lol. The rear springs are tired so I couldn't over load it as much as I wanted anyway . The Chevy (ack, it's hard to say being a Ford guy) has a slightly smaller bed but I'll be able get as much as I did with the f250, but more often since it's 4x4. I'm tired of the wear and tear on my ranger. The Chevy needs the frilly flares and running boards removed. Then I'll patch the wheel wells and install new rocker panels. Frame and body mounts seem solid. It's got seats in the back so I can get all three kids in and the wife if we need to in the winter. They don't all fit in my ranger. It's got brand new tires, including spare, brake lines and brakes. I got a heck of a deal on it. Dealership pizzed my grandpa off so he sold it to me for what they offered him trade in because he knew I'd take care of it. I got my ranger from my other grandpa so I have a truck from each. It's kind of sentimental. Here are pics, last one is what I replaced yesterday on the 250. I also repaired the brake lines I blew on the ranger driving home from work Friday. So I'm still far behind on splitting
That Chevy will haul wood just fine. I agree on getting those running boards off of it. And ya 4x4 is always better than putting tire chains on a 2 wheel drive.
From a fellow Ford feller... Chebby… And those boards will take themselves off with a few trips through the woods...
Understand...I've owned a couple Chebbys for a bit...got a GMC sitting out in the driveway waiting to be reassembled right now...its been waiting a while already...anybody want a 1995 GMC K3500 4x4 (dually) dump truck project?!
