They have a nice little airstrip outside of town for their planes.

Yes! It is in our DNA. It has brought comfort to our bodies, minds and souls for a very long time. 100s of thousands of years. I am very glad I am one of us though, wood burners that use the fire of wood to get all that comfort. Instead of always relying on the combustion of oil or gas and never seeing the flame.

Seeing the flame is an essential part of the experience of warming our dwellings.

I still miss the glass door of my wood stove. :( Apparently there is a reason they can not put one on a gasification boiler. Too damm hot and to much abrasion from the ash I guess.

Its a common r/c club name... There is at least one here in MA, and another called Wingbusters. My club is called Charles River because our field is right next to the river. Trivia, if you have seen the movie Shutter Island you have seen the area, that movie was filmed on the grounds of a closed state mental hospital here, the facility still has 40+ acres of land and we have an arrangement to operate our airfield there. We have a private 10 acre field, with a 300ft mowed runway, clubhouse, pit area, parking, all set back a quarter mile into the woods via a dirt access road with a locked gate. Closest houses are over a half mile so we don't have to worry about noise.

Best part? Its a10 minute drive from my front door :)

hey Jack, response to 40%, If I'm around when it goes down, they would no longer be of the corporal world, but I would guess this is an analogy to taxes, but sure do wish I could deal with it the same way. But then I'm old, senile, very crotchety, extremely grumpy, well you get the picture.

Hiking with the hounds today, now which mountain, which trail, so many to choose from.

Mount Desert Island Marathon, tomorrow, going to help feed several hundred of the runners spaghetti this afternoon as a fund raiser for my daughters High school music program.

Today my retired neighbor came by asking for advice. He has a 70s vintage Ariens snowblower that has a blown head gasket. He took the head off himself but in the process broke one of the head bolts. Apparently he managed to drill out the broken bolt but doesn't know what to do next. I'm watching the kids so can't run over yet, but it sounds like a simple flat head Tecumseh so shouldn't be hard to fix. I suggested he go down to a small engine shop with a good bolt, have them match up the thread and give him a tap, replacement bolt and the appropriate head gasket; then wheel the machine over to my garage. Hopefully I can get him back up and running.

While I was armpit deep into my wifes Caravan with the timing chain replacement I also found out why the coolant would slowly disappear.

I looked and looked for a leak for a few years. I finally found it.
There is a water passage that runs through the timing cover on this engine that is sealed by an O ring and it was broken.

This one turned into a major project but the engine has been completely resealed and a lot of new parts went on in place of the old parts. I know that replacing parts that are functionally good is a waste of money but after all the work I had into this I figured I would be better off later if I put all new stuff back on now. The van has almost 200 thousand on it so i'm guessing that something else would wear out sooner rather than later.

Oh yuck, car/truck repair 92 Caravan replacing alternator can't take out through the top have to drop in and out the bottom that was fun. 99 Ford v10, oil cooler/ heat exchanger (Not a unit like a radiator) under side and next to oil pan, sprung a leak. A had to order it in, none in city including dealers, then 13.5mm metric allen wrench needed to remove/ install - none in the city either, ground a 14mm to size. Now this is also tied into the coolant system so you get a very nice Glycol bath even after pinching the lines off as well as a bit of engine oil for aftershave. Hopefully it will not be to much of a problem to get the air bubble out of the system ( sealed coolant system). Did I mention I am not fond of auto repair work, but only do it out of necessity. sorry no camera available at present.

Wow that sounds like more of a pain than working on German cars full of torx fasteners and oddball specuiql order parts. Hope you get it sorted.

I kept getting a cam sensor DTC code set. The sensor tested good so I took off the valve cover and turned the crankshaft by hand and you could see the crank turn but the cam shaft wasn't turning as soon as it should have indicating slop in the chain.
