please keep the kitten pics coming (BDF also).
We had to say goodbye to one of our 18yo kitties almost 3 weeks ago. He was also the one that liked to sleep with/on us.
Will need to see if I can dig up one from 18 years ago.

So sorry about your loss, 18 years is a good run. I'll bet you miss terribly your bed kitty .

We would love to see some pictures of him in his youth!

Update on Maple- she is continuing to recover well. Still "toeing" the leg with surgery, but putting weight on it at times. We feel she is recovering normally. Her 2 week appt is Monday- hopefully we get the ok to go on 5 minute leash walks. :)

Indeed and on a very serious note.....
If it is the anesthesia, I'd be seriously concerned about putting her under again. Might not wake up again......
Something to obviously consult the vet md about.

Last week we went to Cornell(the best available medicine) with Duke.

Their arboretum is really cool......I've never seen so many large black walnuts and White oaks together....anyway....

They discerned that Duke does not need spinal surgery, that there is nothing to operate for.(the MRI was cool )
Their best unofficial guess is old past trama (probobly beating or hit by car...)that the MRI can't see.(our vet suggested a blood clot from damage could have caused this Wich to me makes sense..)
We are waiting on a few crazy and very rare genetic tests but it's just to make sure and very unlikely.
They did say he is the exception to the rule as in he fits all the physical tests that say spinal damage....hence everyone saying surgery.

He had some of the best or "the" best vetrinary hands and eyes on him. From nuerology to Ortho!!

What a relief!!!!spinal surgery is very intense and so is the recovery. He would have been down there for 3-5 days and that means I would have been too!!!
We had several poor "specialist" telling us that Duke will go paralyzed etc trying to sell us on emediate (MRI@$3500 ) surgery @$4000-6000+
And that he had degenerative disc disease etc........and Nothing felt right and I'm really glad we didn't settle for anything but the best for Duke.
I feel like they (these other specialist)would have operated wether he needed it or not......

Cornell was really really really really really really really good,(impressive) opposite feeling of these other places we've been to and wasted (alot ) of money at.
Now the good doc, a very impressive young woman at Cornell has perscribed and Duke is currently on the same stuff they treat MS with and is going to get some physical therapy to try to get him pain free and hopefully running.
The "other" place gave Duke some anti- inflammation drug that did nothing but upset Duke's tummy. The new meds are low impact(safe) and we haven't seen any side effects.

Simple as that. PT and low impact "safe" nerve meds...... We already see him moving better.

Lucy in her new recliner, she has her own room done up in camo, awaiting some duck decoys and antler lamps.
Although she has never hunted a day in her life

Lucy exploring the pond had to keep her on the leash to many people around, normally she runs free
