I like your enthusiasm, but I don't think it's their fault. We just have a tiny committee, and they seem to be trying to fix it best they can. Far as I know it's still volunteer work, or if they're paid anything its not much, one of them still drives to town every day for work, 120 mile round trip. Im sure 10 bucks a month from the number of houses on the community well doesn't add up to much as far as taking care of the system. Especially if there is a leak, hiring an excavator ain't cheap. The next neighborhood up the road was having a similar issue a few years ago but don't seem to be anymore. I'm pretty sure the road my project house is on had a leak repaired earlier this year, but that house did have its own well, and of course has no water supply right now since it's not lived in currently.

There's 3 basic possibilities, leaks, overload, or overuse. A leak hasn't been found, and not for lack of looking for one, but I guess that's not a guarantee there isn't one. They suspected overuse, I think there's a couple people with big pools, sounded like they were intending to talk to those people. Not sure where that situation lies just yet, but simple overload could be a possibility. They did stop any new houses from going on the well a few years ago, so now every new house needs their own well. Area might just not generate enough groundwater anymore? Not sure.

It'd be nice to have a lake as a water source, that would probably be a lot more reliable, but perhaps not feasible. I guess That's the price we pay for only having a small water bill and a trash bill, instead of having to answer to a town council and pay thousands a year in taxes. A fair trade, honestly. First world problems when you think of the parts of the world where water is worth more than gold.

No, I'm not haha. Because the financially smart thing to do is use the truck till she's no longer fit to be on the road. If keeping the truck mint and getting a new one every few years makes you happy, go for it, but you'd save even more by keeping the truck, unless you have a lemon.

That said, it's quite possible to be careful about how you're loading the truck, and you might never have any damage. With a good bedliner, you'd have to drop the load or miss your aim to damage the truck, but if you like the freedom to be careless, get your trailer. :)

But, to each their own, I can't tell anyone else what to do. But personally, if I was going to use a trailer instead of a truck box, I'd have something a lot easier on gas to make up for the hassle. A crossover can easily tow such a trailer. And, if I had the money to buy an expensive new truck I didn't want to take the chance of damaging, what i'd do instead of a trailer is buy an old beater truck for under 5K bucks.

I agree on that I like to know a used vehicle was cared for, but cosmetics is just a bonus. As long as there's no serious rust issues and the drive train is solid, that's the main thing.

Your speaking my language right there.

I certainly don't have the newest or the best, but I have what I need and what I can afford.

Just picked up an '09 Chev Silverado for $6500. Bodies nearly completely rust free, some damage to the bed exterior, but 241,000+ miles.

Engine & tranny seem strong, so it's a good deal by me.

Given overall condition of the truck, it was well maintained, and mostly highway use.

We should get a decades use from it, hopefully more.

I like the idea of having the bed usable for whatever it may be needed for. I'll scrounge and put wood in the back, but any planned hauling will be with the trailer behind the truck. Getting a crew cab, I can't get anything larger than the 5.5' bed, and have it fit in the garage. So I can only put to much on the bed anyway. Saws, tools, dirty jackets etc, that all can go in the bed.

I haul firewood with my audi wagon. I love outhauling the 3/4 ton brodozers with my Audi. It's pretty funny actually.

I love my Audi. It's super rare, it does everything I've asked of it, and I've got basically 200k on it. However, I burn 5 cords of wood a year, and using a wagon, even if it's the coolest most capable wagon ever in automotive history, is pushing the limits. A new pimped out half ton pick up suits me just fine.
Here's the deal though, new trucks, even the v8's get better mpg than my V8 Audi wagon.

Suck on this brodozer wanna be's. IMG_20171228_151406248.jpg IMG_20170529_185128891_HDR.jpg

They should be fine, no? They should be eating grass and weaned now, right?

We have a momma and 3 fawns traipsing though our back yard tonight, and a couple of days ago . So cute. I've never seen 3 babies from one Mom ever.

Well......the last time I slept at the cottage, coyotes were giving a quick short outburst just across the highway. Since then, I haven't seen either of the fawns. I'm kinda surprised that they have lasted this long. They pretty much wander from yard to yard. There is plenty for them to eat, no problem finding water to drink, and lots of cover across the highway (it's undeveloped). But there are always the opportunists.

As far as being weaned goes...I know the doe will still produce milk into November, so......

In my observations, its more about teaching common sense than weaning, Kind of like teenagers..

No, not at all. I didn’t take any offense. I was just busting yours a little. NY natives understand each other’s brand of humor. Keep bustin' em, I get a kick out of it.
