This came down in one of the two storms we had this spring/summer, after cutting it I could smell a peppermint smell. Pic 8046 was part of 8047, it's a maple but I'm not sure what kind. I'm not sure if I'll get it this year so I don't have any pics of a round. Pic 8050 is what's left of the birch that came down.
My splitter piles are getting bigger, it might be time to change the oil in both splitters so I can get splitting. I did pick this up at Lowe's (another member mentioned it) http://www.liquivac.com/ I still need to get my azz up top so I can haul that wood down. Like you said, the work never ends.
Seems I can't edit my post.... Got that right, It won't be like white Birch... My favorite from Wisconsin!
This was the last area I cut in today, should've been the first, some heavy rounds. I'll bring the splitter in for the rest of this.
Oppirs- I just deleted it for u. Zap- splits ride way nicer than rounds, and you can fit more. I moved loads of rounds today. Beautiful day in the woods today, huh? I think you'll be in the low 20's come next weekend.
The reason I'm hauling rounds is with rifle season around the corner, I'd rather split them at the house. I've left piles of wood in the woods over the winter before, this year I want the majority of it out.
I have some small things that need to be finished in the woods (trail clearing) the biggest job will be hauling the maple down from up top. I'm looking forward to the cooler weather.
I still have some of this Yellow Birch down & standing, I'll get the rest after I get the downed Beech just west of here.
