    Hi Bob!!
(12 step humor to be added here^^)

You've come to the right place, and free wood is free heat.

Welcome Firefighter . Nice to meet ya, it looks like you have your hoarding in high gear. You mention " Ricks", is that a local term?

Ya it's a term that everyone has always went with around here a Rick is 8 foot long by 4 foot high and normally people cut 12 to 16 inch pieces some 18 I believe 3 Rick makes a cord if I'm not mistaking

Thanks Canadian border VT , I've heard the word before, I figured it was some portion of a cord.

Well in summer it is about the amount you can split and stack before it gets too hot for us northerners;)

The only problem with a "rick" is it's not always an accurate measure of firewood.
If you're buying and your supplier delivers 12" long firewood, you don't actually get 1/3 of a cord.

(For reference, a cord by law is 8'x4'x4'. Totaling 128 cu ft. Stacked.
1/3 of a cord is 42.6 cu ft
A "rick" of 12" long firewood is only 32 cu ft. Which means you could get screwed by 25%...or 1 whole rick of firewood if your supplier told you three ricks equal a cord)

I don't know NH mountain man. The lake is a big heat sink and about 1.5 miles away. The hills are usually white before I get killer frost..

Hard telling, not knowing. I'm hoping we make it to October before a killing frost hits us.

If you were around here I would give you the truckload or so that has been given to me. It's all short and random pieces from a coworker.
