Could easily be mine, but I couldn't figure out a way to take a picture of my own boots and have it be right side up:)

First forging session of the year. The wind was whipping and it unfortunately kept the anvil cool and cooled off the work pieces too quickly. Too many reheats for what I was doing. I felt good to be out and I learned that I need more tools.

Practicing forge welding. It stuck together after only five tries. The wind cooled the pieces awfully quick.

Had a little party for my oldest daughters birthday. She picked home made meatloaf, baked potatoes, and salad. Good kid I tells ya! Then she chooses brownies and ice cream sundaes for desert. o_O Now I've been watching what I eat though. So I only had two brownies with two scoops of ice cream, and caramel in my sundae.

Sounds like a good time. One winter I gained 30 pounds, lost all that an some, this winter it was a 10 pound gain so I'll lose the ten.... maybe another five, looking at getting down to 195 -198 this spring.

I'd like to get down to 200 but I'd take 210-215. Tired of lugging around a bag of concrete around my waist… not helpful.

I barely weigh 150 soaking wet. Probably won't get chit done today. Someone hit a pole and I got called in. If they were drunk at least they hit a pole and not someone else. Got called at 2:30 so one can only assume. Couple minutes of downtime before the fun starts.

Looks like a nice day to be outside Jack. Enjoy…

You might have inspired me to get at some ash and oak tops today before the snow's gone.

It's supposed to be very nice out today, first real nice day this spring! I need some coffee and some breakfast and then I'm working outside today. I have some major yard work to get done. Can't wait for summer and my roses to be blooming! (If ma nature would cooperate it would help!) :)

I usually gain 15-25lbs each winter. It seems to get a little tougher every year to lose it in the spring. But I always do.

I usually don't talk about this stuff on here but since the subject came up. You guys might be interested in reading a book called The Primal Blueprint. By Mark Sisson. It goes into detail about how we were meant to eat. He is very knowledgeable and has done some serious research. It can get a little long winded at times, but it is worth the reading of. Even if you don't go with everything he talks about you can take from it and follow what you wish.

I will give you a quick run down of it in case you don't want to read it and I don't want to waste your time. And tell you first that I love eating fresh bread products and Pizza. But in the book he discusses how our genes(everything about us) were designed(evolved) over a period of many hundreds of thousands of years. During that time we never ate grains (bread, pasta, rice) or refined sugar. They were not there. Now we eat lots of them and it is the wrong stuff to eat.

The good thing for me is he talks about how no one is going to be perfect and it is okay to stray every once and a while and employ the 80% rule of thumb. Just eat primal 80% of the time, this allows you to cheat a little when you want to have that big healthy sandwich or some slices of pizza, pasta with fresh Italian bread, etc.

I have been reading it and gradually going over to it the last two weeks. I've lost 8 lbs since I started.

Just a couple of good things about it:

Meat is on the menu big time. Yeah.

Fat, the healthy kind, is there too.
Lots of veggies of course, fruits(natural sugar), nuts and seeds, and much more.

Something for you to check out if you like. It isn't really a diet. It is changing how you do a lot of things. And it will improve your health. If only by not eating refined sugar.
