I'm so saddened to read about Sandy Stinny. You both took her in and gave her the best life a dog could ask for. RIP Sandy, you'll be missed.

Update on Maple. She is out of surgery, which went well. She had a complete torn cranial cruciate ligament but her meniscus was thankfully undamaged. We tried home techniques to try and save her from surgery, but we were unsuccessful. They did her right leg, the favored left leg will likely need repair as well within the next 9 mos, which is good so we can save some more money- the hospital does not do both legs with larger breeds due to the hindering of fully healing.

We will pick her up tomorrow morning. I built a ramp she's been practicing on for the past week, and we have a nice area inside the house for her to recover.

Maple, the million dollar dog :makeitrain"
for those who remember her surgery when she was 6 mos old. :picard:

We love her, so...... :pain: whatever it takes!

    The ramp- slip proof!

That makes me so sad and sorry for you and you wife and Gizmo. Went though that just a month ago with my Max. I still feel like the Grim Reaper. Horrid feeling.

Clever! You will help prevent failure of the surgery with that ramp.

I think it would be good if only I wasn't so heavy. I am working on it, lost about 9 lbs in the last three weeks.

That was our thinking. We grabbed all of the area rugs as well and put them into one room with a wrap around gate. Dawn and I have switched days off for the next week so someone is always with her. This was very expensive and the other leg will need it too. Not taking any chances! Just need to get a pile of sand for the winter. The first 2 months are critical as I'm sure you know.

Some banisters and either radiant flooring or automatic magchlor de-icer over that low slope nonslip ramp, how nice would that be for so many human and pet hoarders?!?

He's better now, looking for a forever home. Offer still stands to keep him/help get him to the airport if needed.

    I copied and pasted below

"Our sweet boy Banjo is now official available for adoption.

We feel he would do best with a family that is home during the day. He does have a fair bit of anxiety with may have steamed from the loss of his human mom. He is crate trained.

He is sweet and loves to play with his stuffed animals. He LOVES walks and car rides.

He does well with other dogs and cats but truly just wants to be a part of a human family.

He is shy and anxious at first but settles in and truly just wants to find his "person".

If you are interested in applying to adopt Banjo - please go to laramieanimals.org/adopt. We are looking to place him with the best fit for him applicant."
