I'm not even sure what the temps were this morning, (low 30's) it's windy out today so it feels colder. The Cherry is still being loaded up in the Liberty. It looks like we have rain coming in on Friday & Saturday, it should make it a real mess.
It does feel colder, that's for sure. I've been working outside in it all day pulling and piling brush and have had my warm hat on! Usually way to hot for that. I hope it does rain one of those days and I can be there when it starts and burn my piles of branches.
I think I'm done burning for the year. I'm sick of moving wood and I'll probably get the house to 80 with a fire. If it gets cool I'll light the furnace.
Today was the first day this season we used the oil monster to heat the house.. 58 degrees inside and brought the temp up to about 65 before the sun took over and provided a little heat this afternoon. I'm down to 13 pieces of this years firewood. Mostly red oak, some beech. Saving it for a cloudy and windy day when the highs stay in the 40's sometime in the next few weeks.
It got to 68 in here, plus my blood had gone cold from working on taxes. I fired three small splits about five hours ago. It's coaled out now, and 73 in the house. I guess I'd be sick of it too if I had to lug in that heavy Hedge; You're already hot from bringing it in, then it burns at 8000 degrees for hour after hour. I only had to carry Cherry, and it burned out pretty fast.
2c=35f here right now and pouring Elm in the box.. Got the tire rim on the splitter welded up today but blocks are gonna have to wait
I see the potential for that woodlands. I will be making my normal walking trips along the wall of the Oswegatchie River to see all that water coming over the dam. Hope it doesn't amount to a lot of flooding for folks though. I have a little seepage in the basement but not much. How is the creek on your property flowing? Can you get us a pic of it tomorrow in the day time? After all the rain tonight and these temps it should be really flowing well!
I'll get a picture on Sunday, it should be higher if you give it another day especially with everything coming down from the mountains.
Right at 36° on the back porch this morning. Windy! Ash holding down the fort in the boiler. Not much heat demand through the night.
35 degrees this morning, Cherry going again. Gasifier, the water is rising pretty good south of us, this will make it's way down, with the rain coming in next week it could get interesting if your house is on the river.
Woodlands. My house is not near the river. I would not own near a river in these days. I'm a few miles away from both rivers. And both house and camp up on a hill.
I was talking about the people on Higley, down near Colton some of the homes are just above the water level.
No, my fault, I should type what is in my head. We just had a gust of wind hit the house that made both of us look at each other.
I'm sure they were rocking. When we went back to measure for the length of a gate we plan on installing the winds were ok, when we started back out they really picked up.
We had a bit of the white fluffy stuff drifting down today, but the road is mushy as all get out. Have a feeling we are going to be WET for quite a while. Beginning to wonder if we'll be able to get any garden in before the 24th of May....
