They don't have a title. Since it is a 2016, I'm guessing it may have 3 years left on a loan. If it does maybe the guy would pay it off when you pay him.

A new BX23S with a quick attach retails for $20,831. You should be able to easily get 10% off that and 15 or better if you look around. So $18k plus tax and no interest. The BX23s has some improvements over the BX25d. Maybe swing by a dealer before you go look at the BX25d. Let them know you are interested in a used 25d and the salesman should be able to show you what is different on the BX23s.

Now, to confuse you some more, do you really need a back hoe? I know a lot of people think they need a back hoe and then rarely use it. I remember you said you had 20 acres. Depending on what you are doing, I would want a bigger tractor. If you don't get a back hoe, you could get a L2501. A L2501 with loader and quick attach retails for $20,803.00, with in $28 of a BX23s. A L2501 would be a much larger and more capable tractor. I hope I am not confusing you too much:thumbs:

Please, give me information till I spin my head like the girl in The Exorcist.
    :faint:

This is what I'm looking for, information.

As far as backhoe, we have a lot of drainage ditches and drainage issues on this property.
I figure a backhoe would be best for keeping them cleared out, and new drainage dug.

I also have culverts to lay so that I can gain access to the lower portion of my woodlot.
I have been told a straight up FEL would take care of what I need done, but either way I'm currently left to hire someone and rent time on their machine.

Logging/ATV trails, I have nothing to keep them repaired, and some areas are getting a bit rough.

We don't have huge needs, and that's the main reason that I want to make sure I'm not spending money unwisely.

I don't have to clear drainage ditches every year.

Hmmmm.. have some thinking to do.

I do get fed up with paying for work to be done every year, and not always on my schedule as my friend doesn't charge me "market rates", so I don't fret about timeframes much.

This machine should allow me to do all of those tasks myself.

    More thinking..

    Thx 94Bullitt

Well, I'm not sure how that works, but I don't need some 'repo man' coming around here trying to take the tractor.. that would be an unfortunate turn of events..
    :tears:

You can cut and maintain a ditch with a rear blade.

For digging to install a new culvert a BH would be best. I've cleaned out the end a culvert with a blade, it depends on how it ends/ begins.

A rear blade or box blade would handle trail and driveway maintenance.

A larger machine is better suited to working in the woods, more ground clearance, better stability, and more pulling power.

The only way they would catch you is if you took it to the dealer for service or possibly if you went to get a part and there was a serial number break. You may be able to check with the dealer to see if there is a lien through Kubota. Maybe the guy can show you the paperwork that it is paid for.

That always equates to more money, no matter the frame.
    ;)

I'm not sold that this is the machine I need.
But I know that I wanted it earlier today/yesterday.

Well guys, I thank you for all the advice.

We looked at it, and it's just as nice as the pictures show.
Almost not a scratch on it, or the FEL.

It is not equipped with the quick attach front, but other than that it's nearly pristine.

We closed the deal and I will be getting the money around this week, and he also will deliver it.

He does owe on it yet, but part of the contract is proof of payoff.

He genuinely seemed sad to have to part with it, but needs the money for new home down payment.

Hope to add some pics next weekend.

I figure it'll go from 76 hrs on it to over 100 before the end of the month.

I managed to log 2800 HARD hours on mine over the last 19 years. A capable machine for sure...

I found this picture inside an old camera of the ole Kubota toting out some White Pine that I sawed into flooring for my house.

I do classes on sheep farming and we talk a lot about tractors and equipment.

In the woods, I am not really sure on size. Yes, a bigger frame tractor will help...some. Technique is even more advantageous, and of course there is traction. Since a winch always gets 100% traction, they are half the tractor really. A small tractor with a winch is going to be more productive then a bigger one without one. Tractors with winches can pull trees through brush, through snow, across a wet hole, around a stump, etc. This was true even comparing my bulldozer to my tractor. I could PULL another tree or two with the bulldozer due to weight and traction, but without a winch, I had a hard time getting 5-6 trees to go out with. In other words they had to be really close to the twitch trail, and that seldom happened.

Myself, I will never get a bigger tractor than what I have now despite having quite a few acres. It is not because I think I have the ideal size (2500 series Kubota), it is because I have so many farm implements sized for that size tractor. While I could afford to upgrade the tractor, I could NEVER afford to scale up all my implements. For the person with few implements though, that is not an issue.

Woo-hoo! You can always upgrade to the ss quick attach in the future! It is very handy to do speedy switchovers!

Had a small fire here tonight as well.

This towards the end of the night.

    IMG_20180804_210152470.jpg

    Has been a great day.

I'm already formulating new questions, and a shopping list of new accoutrements for the tractor.

Oh boy, what have I done.

Well, the die has been cast, and the deal sealed.
    :emptywallet::emptywallet:

Bank loan officer couldn't seem to close the deal quick enough.
I took 5 of my most recent pay stubs as I figured they'd want them, he said "Don't need them with your credit history, but will copy them into the system so you don't feel like it was wasted time.

Preliminary numbers are 3.75% over 5 yr note @ $230/mo. (comes to ~$16,843 with down payment and interest on loan)
Will not know the definitive numbers until the ink is ready to dry.

Tractor should be delivered on Wed. 8/8 around lunchtime.
    :dex::dex:

The list of projects has already grown.
    :bug:

Crossover, driveway expansion, new flag pole, Jing-weed removal....
    You get the idea.
    o_O

    Someone's gonna be mighty busy.

Oh, accoutrements, have already looked at this for it, as well as "under armor" as it doesn't have a belly mower to protect the undercarriage stuff.

Backhoe thumb.. Factory Mount Barracuda BH Thumb
    Under Armor.. BXpanded Under Armor

Worthwhile, or no?? Can same be had at a lower price??
I figure the thumb is nearly necessary, the Under Armor is "insurance"
