Does anyone know where a guy can pick up after market non tube tires for this trailer? My friend bought it from Northern tools, but they don't have any tires that will work for our area. He called the manufacturer today, and they told him, no luck. I know a couple folks bought these and thought I would check in before it sells it.
I thought is was a little woid myself.....I mean, weird..... But otherwise, no- I got nothing on them tires.
What do you need the tires to do? You mention those tires don't work in your area. My yard cart only has 2 wheel barrel type tires and it does fine. I'd think a trailer with 8 tires would be pretty good. Unless they go flat easy...which is what mine did till I put tubes in them..
I assume you do not like the dual-tire arrangement, yet with the single axle bolt pattern, they are not interchangeable to a single tire set up? I can see where that would be a problem. My suggestion is to cut off the axles that are welded to the walking beam suspension. You could easily do this with a grinder and thin metal cut off wheel; no cutting torch needed. Then I would then go to Harbor Freight or another trailer store and buy standard trailer axles with 4 or five bolt patterns and weld them in place. It would cost around $80, not counting rims and tires, but then the problem is forever solved; you would have single tires per axle, yet be able to change them to new tires and rims in the future.
They get flats in our shale hillsides unfortunately. They are a soft rubber I guess. He uses it to haul firewood from around his property, and to get water for stock, and gardens. Hauling water isn't too bad, as he goes from creek to his house on a well beaten path. They have tubes now.
I agree. Just rebuild the thing. He doesn't want too though. Thought I would check before he goes back to his rigid suspension beast. He welds alot at work, and just doesn't want to put more time/money into it. I told him that I don't want it. Somebody is going to score here. I have a feeling he will give it away to someone he deems in need
There was a discussion here recently about those trailers and I mentioned that's a lot of tires to go flat. I really like that trailer, just not the (8) tires.
