Right now it'll just be a patio.
Original plan was a screened porch, then it was going to be a regular addition, then back to a screened porch, now back to a patio with plans for a screened porch maybe next year.

You're doing it right.....let the inspector approve it first, then next year or so, enclose it!!

Actually, I talked to the inspector and he said no permit needed for what we're doing or have planned. We'll do it right no matter what, but that saved a couple bucks.

How deep were the footers ? they appear very shallow. IIRC you are in northern Michigan, shouldn't they be about 36" if you want to build on it ?

Why did you put styrofoam under the slab ? did you insulate the footers/ exterior wall ?

Are you going to run 110v or 220v maybe 440v....................HVAC ? Fireplace, wood or pellet stove ?

Simple 2X4 screened porch. Probably run power. One or two 20 amp circuits.
XPS foam reduces moisture and cold from coming up. Considering insulation on exterior of pour at a later date.
Footers are 2' from top of monolithic slab, all that's required on sand up here.

It was a bit shocking to see the almost non-existent "footing" under the slab where the patio door is. It's been there for decades and hasn't sunk ..............yet.:bug:
When I built the pole barn, I was required to put the posts down at least 42", but that's a different structure.

One of the brothers used the mini to dig a trench from close to the house out to one of the sheds (about 40'). Would have taken me a week to hand dig, even in sand. At some point in the past, a previous owner ran a 12-2 romex out to the shed a few inches below gorund........the dogs dug up part of it and partially chewed through the casing causing shorts and the breaker to trip, quite a few times until I found the problem.
Now, there's a 12-2 UF-B cable in the new trench that's 2' deep. I still need to make the connections at the shed, then the house. I used the plow on the GT to push all the sand back into the trench......another HUGE timesaver. I'd LOVE a CUT with a couple implements, but dat ain't happnin.
