So, I saw an antique ( 1910 ) piano for free a month or so ago, I took kiddo to her eye doc appt that week and stopped by to look at it, fell in love. I called my handyman (too many ee's taking summer vacations, short handed) and the two moving companies in town wanted $400 + . The door jamb to the room it should go in is steel and too narrow for it. WWW said he would borrow the industrial saw at work and cut the jamb off when he could (likely means in a year if I'm lucky) so there that beautiful antique piano sits in the garage. The gal I got it from had a relative that delivered it for a lot less. The piano is GORGEOUS, but, a smaller one would do just fine to teach kiddo the little that I know.

Why does this matter? WWW asked the plumber neighbor down the road to take a look at the plumbing for the bathroom face lift, he'll do it, yay! THEN, they walked through the garage to look at welding the boat trailer and he stopped short in front of the piano. We'll see how it works out but it appears a partial barter is in the works! (for those of you that remember, the barter between him and WWW on his roof is still in place, but like the rest of the funky throw back town, it all runs at a snails pace).

    WOO!

Disgusting, up at like 7.5' next to the ceiling, they had to been either put there or tossed up there.

I give up. They want to do what they want to do, which costs too much which means it will never get done.

Hmm, I've written this 3 times but it ends up being a novel. Hopefully condensed with the jist of it all. The orig plan is back on, us doing it. WWW "misunderstood" what the guy wanted to do despite hearing me say no. Yes I would buy your commercial Delta fixtures because that's all he will work on, but NO, not a one lever permanent preset temperature on (I need two levers, sometimes hot, sometimes cold, and anywhere inbetween), and NO a round twist knob with a low spigot is hard for me. NO, I won't pay your tile buddy to put in a tile surround, WWW and I are great a tiling so why hire, and who would put a tile surround against a concrete block wall when the objective is a VERY warm bathroom and shower, tile there would be a heatsink and tile is harder for me to clean :headbang:. WWW finally understood when he talked with him on Wed, and plumber didn't budge. Ummmm, no, not trading the piano for sweating a couple joints and paying for an unwanted tile job or faucet.

Sorry for the distraction, "facelift" is back on track.

You are so kind!!! Yes, we both can sweat joints. Our remodel 97-98 (actually we had a whole house built on to our cabin), we ended up doing much of the new hotwater baseboards and lines. I'll get the Moen's reordered :)

Ready, set, go! Started on the floor, hoping to overlay, no dice. (box was supposed to be for the floor chips).

I apologize, I need to be more descript, what you are missing is what I neglected to write.

Not a big deal, just an extra step, of which we all know there will be more as it progresses. I was hoping to just lay the 3/4" over the top, but it was too damaged, so he ended up having to tear out the top layer before the new overlay.

Second order in process. Is there a reason I cannot find hook and loop sandpaper in 600 and 800 grit? I was taught as kit to use a scrap of 2x4 or whatever lumber and sandpaper wrapped around it, but we have a pneumatic triangle shaped head one now. Is there a different helpful tool for the final shower sanding and and the drywall repairs?

Pleased to find this little bugger, vanity/sink combo not placed yet, no doubt it will not line up. Cool! (actually ordered pieces and parts, our drain goes straight through the floor not the wall, but this pic gives you the idea).

You certainly don’t need that fine of a grit for drywall.....
As for the shower.....were you refinishing the surface? A paint color change/ or repairing the finish of it?

Yes, refinish the tub surround only surface (tub in good shape), and skim coat the bathroom walls, so much of the old wallpaper will not come off.

You may be scuffing up the tub surround by hand..... unless yo7 can find some H & L sheets/shapes and cut to fit the triangular head of your sanding machine.
Still wouldn’t got that grit on the drywall compound skim coat..... maybe ironpony has some input?
