    I read over and over that our foods should be more like what our grandparents ate. Of course I remember my grand dad eating the salt pork in my grandmothers pork and beans! He only lived to be 88. Died from a cancer he got from Redtop chewing tobacco. My grandparents grew most of their food. Their dirt floor cellar was lined with shelves of canned food including meats. They didn't have a pressure canner and no one ever got sick from their food.
