Good trucks. 7.3 or gas? The super duties seem to hold up better than the 150s, metal wise.

Next five face cord to be dumped any minute now. My son will have some work for when it cools down.

We might get some rain tonight and tomorrow morning. o_O

    I hope we do!

Them 7.3s were tough. The 2V 5.4 and the 6.8 are also mind you, although the 5.4 barely got out of its own way in the super duty and was just as hard on gas as the 6.8. I recall a person on a Ford forum had a 9th Gen ford a while back, with a 7.3 and close to 1,400,000 miles......

I have an 08 F250 Super Duty with the 5.4. It has plenty of power for most things. Pulling a heavy load I wouldn’t be pulling any close passing with it, but it does fine.

The guy who just dropped me 5 face cord with his 7x12 dump trailer went with one of the newer Ford F-250 Super Duty with the big Diesel. He said he is happy with it. Good power and good mileage.

Basically the same way I feel about the 4.6s I've had in half tons. People talk like it needs red lined to leave the driveway, but for light use it works. But, I wouldn't want it if I was hauling max capacity with the truck. Given the choice, I'd get a 6.8, same as I'd rather a 5.4 vs a 4.6 if both are 2V. But when buying used....can't always get what you want.

That said, the 6.2 in the newer ones would blow the doors off either one

I would like to try a newer model used one with the 6.2 next. Maybe in another year or so. I only have about 62,000 on this one. I found it and bought it about November of 2016. It had around 50,000 miles on it and is in nice shape. I don’t know. I like it, so I may decide to keep it for a longer time.

    I have a 3V 4.6 in my F150. I'm real happy with it.

Made 8 gallons of pickles and froze 8 gallons of green beans today. Got to go out and tie up the tomatoes after it cools down some.

We had 3 bronco 2's and a ranger all of the same style, and all had no less than 300k on them when we sold our had to get rid of them. The 2 86's had 400k and 420k on them when they were done. The Eddie Bauer one had 420k when a drunk driver t boned me, and the XLT had 400k. The XLT was needing entire brake lines replaced and was given to a charity for tax purposes. The Eddie Bauer ran great, until that celebrity took out the front end.

Those were all 2.9 v6 which weren't known to be the best. All original motors. Plus my ex fiance had an 90 bronco 2 as well with the 2.9. that had nearly 300k on it when we parted ways.

The 2.8 or 4.3 S10/blazers couldn't get one in 10 to go past 300k, and I know only a few that made it over 100k before catastrophic failure. They either burned oil and lasted, one I knew had over 400k, or just crapped the bed.

    Just real world experience;)

I'v had 3 2Vs, a 99 2wd, 04 2wd, and current 02 4x4. The 02 now lags and acts funny now, but that's some gremlin with fuel supply I think. Otherwise both 10th gens were pretty quick unloaded. The 04 was a bit more sluggish. No experience with the 3V, I don't know if I could take a chance on one with the timing issue, so I considered the loss of power an acceptable trade off in the 04 for the 2V 4.6. The 3V 6.8 at least didn't have the VVT, so I'd consider one more easily

Keeping a truck as long as feasible is definitely a money saver.....
