Guy down the road a ways took down a couple of large fir trees last year. The branches were bucked and stacked but the huge rounds were placed on edge all around the fence. There is about 3+ cords of rounds. Last year I asked if he would give me half the wood if I split it all. Said no. Today I went by and the wood is untouched. Made my offer again and he said yes but now he wants to get rid of all of it! Looks like this weekend I will be splitting and stacking in 85 deg weather again. Nice thing; this will be burnable this year.

Have to add the mail under the core section. It will give you the full workout.

My wood splitting/ stacking is done for a while, last monday i had a pretty good sized kidney stone removed, it was blocking my urinary tract. I wasn't having much pain, but, it could have been pretty serious. They told me, no way would have i passed that stone it was a little over 1/2'' long and blocking the urinary tract. So, now i have to heal up, before i do anything that requires exertion. Found that out the hard way, i did a few things and i started bleeding a little bit. So, i decided to follow the Dr's orders. I go in the 25th of this month for a check up and of course, they will scope me, can't wait for that, lol. Now i know why i got all my wood cut, split and stacked by the end of march this year. :D

You got the right attitude B.Brown , listen to the docs advice and take it slow, enjoy the advantage of having wood hoarded for just this very reason.

OK, back to 4th of July hoarding, I haven't had one (4th) off from work in years, this year I did! :dancer:I had just two very simple goals; 1) I wanted a couple hot dogs off the the grill for lunch up to camp. 2) I wanted to hang out in the river for the day, a nice cold, clear, rushing Mt. river. I got both my goals achieved. I have a cord and a half or so of logs to c/s/s but they aren't needed till 2021/22. I'll deal with them in the fall. The three year plan is a wonderful thing.

Reminds me of camping with my folks at the Cataloochee campground in the Great Smokey Mountains park. I was about 16 at the time and that campground was described as "primitive" and it was. It was beautiful, remote and wet. That didn't stop us 4 kids from living in the nearby large creek. It was really roaring and after a few hours of repeated tubing through a particularly rough section we would emerge bruised, blue and shivering from cold and dog tired. I'm surprised it didn't kill us, I know it would kill me now! A few hours warm up, lunch and some hot chocolate and back in the water! Ah... the resiliency of youth.
