I came home from the beach to find this... part of it let go and knocked down a power line, so Eversource and Comcast came and cut it up. IMG_20180711_32821.jpg IMG_20180711_8780.jpg IMG_20180711_32821.jpg IMG_20180711_8780.jpg IMG_20180711_18574.jpg IMG_20180711_26272.jpg
I got the ice cream stand's permission to take the wood, but the police don't want me underneath a third trunk that might potentially fall. The city is due to arrive on an hour or so to take down the third trunk, and I have to take it up with them before they chip it. So, I'm parked around the corner, hanging out.

We at the FHC do some crazy thing for wood to include stalking. I would probably do the same for locust as well.

Parks Dept. is leaving the big chunks for me! They have to get rid of the brush across the road, but they said they would be dropping it at the dump tomorrow unchipped, so win/win. Still hanging out until the men are done doing what they do. IMG_20180711_18758.jpg IMG_20180711_24960.jpg

Great firewood and splits very easy with a maul!!! But locust seems to not be able to resist windstorms very well!!! I used to have a yard full of them with emphasis on used, haha!!!

First load. There are 3 more big chunks, I don't know if I can wrestle them in my car, may have to cut them in the AM. IMG_20180711_16501.jpg

I got two of them, but the third and largest I'll have to cut in the morning. IMG_20180711_2615.jpg

I deep down knew it would happen on a Wednesday, my babysitting day. Luckily the old girl hung on until I was almost home. It was supposed to be Asplundh's job, but they didn't get to it in time. The city never took down the third trunk, so there's that to look forward to!

I'm hoping you had an ice cream cone on this hot day waiting for your wood to be cut up Midwinter. Black Locust is some good find for an unexpected score. Good for you my friend!!!!

That tree in your front yard must have wood piled up all around it. Always a good thing .

A little more, I hope, after I hit the dump for the smaller stuff. I'll take a pic.
