With a nice break from the heat and little time to play out back got some work done! I put together some simple wood racks as I had a bunch of cinder blocks at my disposal. Looking to get away from using the pallets only because the back of my property has a heavy canopy not much sun so I rely mostly on open air flow. Because of the size of most pallets I was stacking the splits 2x deep and felt they were not getting enough air flow. With these new racks I feel they are getting hit with more air and they are very simple to slap together. Once they dry out on the racks I will move them into a soon to be built wood shed out of the elements & closer to the house. Also got away from the pallets because of this guy. Think I Id'd it as a dark fishing spider, I nearly chit a brick. Don't see spiders that big around here at least I don't. Contrary to its name this particular spider does not live near water. Likes wood (hey we have something in common ) and dwells on trees, no web to catch prey, relies on speed and cunningness. Also got my FHC sticker (and a tshirt) up on my dump cart. Not sure if I was supposed to peel off that top layer, I started to and it got a little wacky so I just left it, figured would cause no harm and still looks great!

Looks good. I just hope they don't lean,lean,lean and finally fall over into the fence (like mine did). I had 4 sections, 2 tipped. They made it a year and a half until i just pulled down and re-stacked. My guess is that I didn't pack the ground enough under the cinder blocks.
Yeah I was thinking about that, but it's what I had laying around didn't spend any money. In time I will def get PS 2x4's. Let's see how the whole rack setup works after a year or two.
Looks good Chuck. Worry not about not getting sun on the stacks so long as you have good air flow. I like your racks; much better than pallets. I never have like pallet for much of anything.
At least they are responsible for just holding the wood together not the weight bearing. I did that mistake but honestly it wasn’t planned to be holding wood for long anyways. Good set up!!!
Hoping to get rid of mine too, Hell I’ve burned up more pallets than I care to mention or even know due to the sale of the house. Getting rid of the junk. Now I want to set up shop so I can do some wood work with pallets instead.
Can't tell from the pic real well...but that looks kinda like the Wolf spiders we have around here...they get pretty big! On that decal...yeah that outside skin is supposed to come off...carefully. It just holds the letters in place until everything is stuck down. Oh, and the racks oughta work gooder!
