Stopped at the new Runnings store today. They had a pellet display out on the floor. $5.19 per bag or $214.99 for a ton. That’s quite a discount they apply for the ton price.

Any specific brands or do they sell a nondescript bag like TSC?

I've never burned them but IIRC aren't they more like Instant Heatless?

They were, I'd be curious as to how they are now.

Was down at Runnings this past weekend, and noticed the sign had been changed. Hmm.

Agreed, but that seems in line around this part of the country too. I mean that's what I get my douglas firs for.

Ha ha. I meant if I bought them individually, it'd be like $5.19+ a bag or more. I don't know this for a fact but those people without experience burning pellets probably see the individual price and think what a rip-off. I know because I was one of them. It's not until you get them at $4.20 that you begin to appreciate the savings. And I wasn't even thinking about buying a ton or serious bulk for that matter.

I already bought my pellets for this year last spring. I'v'e been chopping and stacking wood for my other stove and my need for pellets was cut in half. The big gain with pellets though is less work AND the ability to wake up in the morning to a regulated heat -- much like my furnace. So my plan will be to burn pellets in the later evening to early morning, and burn wood in the stove during the day and early evenings.
