Ive been on salary for almost 20 years now and use to think like you until just the last few years. I have lost months worth of vacation time over the years. Take the time off.........

No A/C for me in the truck.

Evidently the parts place sent the shop the wrong item (or the wrong item was ordered, or the item wasn't ordered at all - take your pick). So after spending half of 4th of July there a the shop, then taking time off work to take the truck in today, then taking more time off work to go get it back (in the rain might I add - A/C would have come in handy), I will go thru this same thing Monday. Supposedly they are having the right part overnighted directly from Ford.

Not surprised at all - that is the way my luck works.

Push for some sort of compensation. Tell them how much it cost you due to their F up.

I'm not surprised either. Ford is notorious for having many different parts for the same basic vehicle......very easy to get the wrong one delivered. When I worked for an auto parts store in the early 70's, as soon as someone came in the door looking for a Ford u-joint (unless they had the exact old part in their hand), all the salesmen ran for the hills........nobody wanted to deal with all the variations.

A little torn here as chit happens and as Pete said Ford has multiple part numbers. BUT since they had the vehicle, the VIN should have told them what they needed.

They are already comping labor on an "as is" vehicle. But I guess some comp should happen here. What are they charging for the compressor?

I’m surprised they didn’t have a wheelchair waiting for him by the pool.

With the holiday right square in the middle of the week a lot of superintendents that I work with took advantage of it and took Thursday and Friday off so they could have 5 days off .
I am one of 3 Senior Superintendents on this job and with the time I will be loosing after surgery I could not afford to take it off so as well as Senior Supers taking off some of the Supers and assistant Supers took the time as well leaving me with a skeleton crew as far as Superintendents.

Its a big job we are doing for Harvard University with a team of 26 people if you count the interns, project engineers, project managers, assistant project managers,Senior project managers, Project executive, Assistant Superintendents,Superintendents, Senior Superintendents, throw in the Owner of the Company who has a special interest as he went to Harvard and the number 2 man in the company as the number one has such a strong interest in the Job which brings the count up to 28.
Micromanaging as I have never experienced and Harvard is one very very tough client.

I have to tell you all that the weather has made a dramatic change. the wind is blowing with a stiff breeze, and the temp has dropped to 74 with the humidity at 54%. Off goes the AC, opened the windows, but left the fans running. Take a big breath and enjoy it while you can. Back to the oven Monday.

You are correct Smoke they are doing complete renovations of all their dorm houses one by one, this one that I am on is the largest one they have and the second one we have done for them. It is a 2 year project the first they have done over two years as it is well over 200,000 square foot of space to renovate 7 different buildings,2 courtyards and all the site work .
Funny thing is not a dime spent on these renovations is Harvard's money its all donated. Typically they are one year renovations what we call Summer slammers but the amount of work for this one could only be performed in 2 years, that is if in fact we can do it in 2 years.
