Caffeine going in. Getting an early start today. They said a chance of rain overnight last night. But it doesn’t look like we got any. It is very dry here. It’s good for the ground work I’m doing. The dirt is just falling off the stumps and it’s easy peasy getting around when everything is dry. But, the crops, and everything else, need some rain. The forecast for the next week looks like zero rain.

A few pictures from yesterday. Sometimes I run into two trees that were so close their roots were growing together. Makes them tougher to get out when they are a decent size. And they are heavy. But not my first time around pulling stumps. The hydraulic thumb is great to have. Digging the dirt out of the roots and picking them up and dropping them helps out. This has turned out to be an even bigger job than I thought it was going to be. A lot of stumps. A few Ash so big I left them in the hole. Dug the dirt off the roots, dug the hole deeper, and then used the bucket and thumb to flip them over. Then bury them right there. After this machine goes back it will be time to do a lot of clean up work with the tractor.

Well. Long story, but I’ll try to make it very short for you. I actually was very fortunate this time. And did not have to rent it.o_O:)

I decided to trade my Mahindra tractor in on a construction grade, KUBOTA, Tractor Loader Backhoe Series. It’s an M59 with 490 hours on it. When it got here there were some issues with it I was not going to accept. So before they unloaded it I was on the phone with the guy I bought it from. I explained to him what was wrong and that I wasn’t accepting it that way. Sent him some pictures.

He was very good about it. Said everything will be fixed and agreed to some financial discount for me as well. I was happy with that but told him I had waited a long time for the tractor and needed a machine when they come to pick mine up and take it away. (Lots of ground work planned for this vacation and they did not know how long it would take to get it done because it is the busy season for everyone.)
So I said to him, you guys have all kinds of machines, lend me a mini-Excavator for a few days while you have my tractor. I have a LOT of digging that do. And he agreed to it. Then he told me he won’t take it back until my tractor is finished. A good guy.

I am very grateful to him for doing that for me!:)

Not a drop of rain fell here. You'd have thought with this terrible heat and now the cold front that we'd have gotten some big storms but that was not the case.

I turned the air off last night and we once again was able to sleep with the windows open. Nice! Cool this morning. Still in the 60's here.
