Not to toot my own horn, but they were probably the best ribs I've ever eaten. And I'm VERY picky when it comes to ribs. I can't stand them when they're too mushy, too dry, too crispy, too tough, too smoky, not smoky enough......these ones cooked up excellent, they had the perfect texture, still juicy and not tough at all, an excellent crispy and smoky bark, good smoke penetration, I was very happy how they turned out. The family gobbled them up so fast it wasn't even funny!
Happy Independence Day to my American brothers and sisters. I'm a transplanted American but it never left me and never will. "A republic, if you can keep it"
Chris, didn't realize that the "transplant garden" was this full so close together......................
Yes, I listened to the whole thing. I think that's maybe about the sixth time I've listened to that one. Yes, I miss Paul Harvey and his broadcasts.
Oh yes, There are men today that brave through some very "hell on earth" conditions. They continue to give and sacrifice much the same as they did when this country was created. What is different is that they fight on foreign ground. Today's soldiers have a much better chance of surviving their wounds. Not far from here, we have a soldier who lost all his limbs. Travis Mills. He has built up a huge retreat for veterans and their families. Today's soldiers are confronted with weapons not in existence in the revolutionary war. Chemical weapons, weapons of mass destruction etc. Another element is that today's wars are endless. Soldiers still fight in very harsh conditions for long periods of time. I've spoken to wwII, Korean, VietNam, and middle east vets. Not much changes when it comes to hardships in war. Different wars, different weapons, but way too much still in common.
You are right Larry. But most of those men who signed were not soldier age. Some still led soldiers but these were men, well off men with much good to possibly lose along with their lives. What really is scary is thinking about their families. For sure we have some great fighting men and it is a shame they have to go fight foreign wars. But, that's still better than fighting a war on our soil.
one of the most huge changes in today's fighting soldiers is one of training. Soldiers today have professional training in weaponry and strategies so they are more than just cannon fodder. Those not able to demonstrate competency in their primary roles are not advanced as that would compromise the mission and endanger others. Gone is the time that all you had to do is be able to walk or chew gum. Gone are the one who judges said go into the service or go to jail.
I heard about a retreat on the tv the other day, I thought for sure it was the same one, but not. I was impressed, they work with PTSD with a method called PTSG (growth). I hope there will be more to serve the soldiers that keep our country safe. I applaud them and others and hope to see many more to come as well as integrating with VA at some point.
