I used to get hopped up and shave my beard off. I'd wake up hung over, look in the mirror to comb my hair( still had some then) and scare the chit out off myself. Took 2 weeks to grow it back. Finally stopped drinking to excess.

I work at Gillette HQ Blades and metals department which makes the blades for all the razors made in Boston and just a little advice to keep your razor dry after using or the soap insert will dissolve if kept wet ruining the cartridge..

Ray, thanks for the advice. I've had that happen on cartridges. Actually, right now I'm using Gillette double edge razor blades. They are produced in Russia, if I'm not mistaken. I own some classic Gillette razors from the 40s and 60s. The Fatboy adjustable that sold for $1.95 in the late 50s-early 60s, now go for upwards of $200 on the Bay. Wish splits were that collectible. :)

I remember a schoolyard insult growing up in mid-late '70's that went something like this - "Your face looks like a Brillo pad with eyes!" Now fast forward almost 40 years, look at my winter beard pic & you'll see the resemblance....  Can you imagine? Kids talk like that to each other now & they get reprimanded for "bullying" Anyway.........

I hate shaving every day, always have.

I only shave from early-mid April to late October.Use Gillette Fusion 5 blade cartridges, not cheap but they shave closer than anything I've ever used before. With them I rarely shave more than once a week in warm weather. One cartridge normally lasts 4-5 weeks before its dull.

Great to have a convert, Matt. The Merkur is an excellent razor. Enjoy it!

Ive been wanting one for a while and finally got around to buying one. My wife got me an Art of Shaving kit for Christmas and that has made my shaving experience much better and I do believe this new razor completes it.

So I trimmed off my beard last night. I was in the bathroom slowly taking it down with the electric trimmer, and I thought I heard screaming just about as I was finishing up and about to grab the razor. So I shut off the trimmer, and heard my fiance yelling for help from the kitchen. She was deep frying chicken wings, and knowing her I assumed she had spilled the oil so I grabbed a towel and ran. She turned around as I ran into the kitchen, and about tripped over herself and back into the hot oil she had spilled! I failed to tell her I was trimming off my beard, and seeing my actual face scared her almost as much as the hot oil did!

To be fair the last time I didn't have a beard was the week we met over a year and a half ago. I started growing it immediately so she barely remembers what I looked like without one.

I am a lazy shaver. I lather up my hair with shampoo then spread the lather over my face & use a Mach 3 razor to shave. I like the shampoo batter than shaving cream. For me shaving is a necessary chore.
