Forgot to add that I brought out my little battery operated chainsaw and cut up some of the wood so it would fit in the truck. Plus, I took some sapling stumps down to as close to the ground as possible.

    Enjoy the lake!

Got home from work last night and hit the mountain bike for about 9 miles-the big hills were tough but not overly too bad and I knew today or tomorrow would be worse. THEN I turned on the ac and relaxed for the evening.

Saw the Sox were getting spanked by the Yanks so I kept going on the dial.

I relaxed for 6 months trying to get my shoulders to heal - just sat around and read. Finally decided that wasn't working so now I'll give them something to really cry about :D

Agreed. Thats why I am ignoring the pains and hitting my old 9 mile bike run that includes some killer hills. Last few years, I cut out the tough parts because this hurt or that hurt, its too hot or I just didnt feel like it. BS, I am now doing the entire run for the last month and my knees are feeling so much better and maybe I can start dropping some of the extra baggage too. Now I have to work on the shoulder thing as well........

Ryobi 18v +One - works well for what I need, and yes, I would buy it again. Wouldn't do well for cutting firewood but for a homeowner just trying to clean up stuff, it works great. I had a hard time starting a slightly larger gas chainsaw, plus I don't have to use it often so don't have to worry about gas going bad. Nice and quiet too so I could use it super early in the morning if I wanted to. Battery lasts a long time. A couple of years ago I took down somewhere around 30 sapplings that were up to 15' tall. Plus a lot of old growth off of lilacs and a hydrangea tree and only had to change the battery once (I have 4 batteries).

This is one stuffed truck from my first load to the dump this morning (what I packed in last night). Don't let the green leaves fool you - I just stuffed those branches in at the very top. The rest of the load is fully packed large and small branches.

    truck stuffed with wood.jpg

Last night my eyes were bigger than the truck - I had 1.5 truckfulls left to go after my first trip. So the last run I made worth it by pulling more largish branches out of the woods. With the 4 bags of smaller detritus, it made a respectable load.

So far this year, just from the small bit of "woods" I have, I have done at least 5 truck loads plus the load on Thursday that was strictly 9 bags of leaves/limbs to the dump. I still got a bunch to go. Amazing how much it packs down over the years so the piles don't look all that big - until you start tearing them apart.

That is so weird - I have never had deer eat my hostas. At my last place of residence (there for 26 years) I had deer bed down on top of my tomato plants, moose and bear wonder thru the yard on a regular basis etc. and never once were hostas molested. Maybe they were too busy munching the fruit from the crabapple, peach, plum and apple trees to be temped by mere greenery.

Got up to 92* today. Never felt overly humid except earlier this morning, but maybe because I was working in the shade..

Well, after a light lunch and nap I decided since the dump was still open to take one more load - which turned into two. Then I started looking at the stones I brought from the BBS yesterday and did this

Obviously not finished (not finished as of this posting). Just to the right of the stones I planted a couple of painted ferns.

View from rocking chair - the shade garden on the swampy side of the house

Better look at the shade garden and ou can see the hosta on the left, hydrangea trea, buttercups, and trunk of the crabapple. You can barely see any of the road at all.

Planted a couple of lilies that I had been holding in a pot and an errant foxglove that appeared about 100' from where the rest were planted (down in the shade garde you can see from the seat is where the rest are)

    Seen from the back porch
    from house.jpg

I got everything put away. All I need now is a cool shower.
