It's beginning to heat up a bit. Spread some fertilizer this morning. Got backhoe on tractor yesterday. May pull out a stump this afternoon.

Our freinds here in town might pay $400 or $450 and their house is about 2/3 the size of mine.

We have some of the highest power rates in the nation, I live in an old house with just a few rooms totally insulated and the rest just have r19 ceiling insulation.

Also don't forget we have been in the 90s for weeks at this point. Triple digit heat indexes for almost a week or so.

For sure you spend much more than we do for cooling but that is super high. Our bill will probably be going up the next couple of months. 90's this weekend will be our third time already this year and summer just started a few days ago. I wonder if this will be a year when we might see 100 degrees? It happens every now and then. I think the last time we got that hot was in 98 so it's been a while.

I do have a fairly large home. It's about 2400ish square feet that are cooled. I have two heat pumps as well.

That makes sense. Cooling that big of a box takes a lot of juice.

Very little shade as well, just very small amounts of early morning and late afternoon shade on very small parts of house. But the house is so big it creates it's own shade, shading half the house in th afternoon. That side is not near as hard to cool in the afternoon.

From the above pictures to this one today thanks to firefighters and Mother Nature:thumbs:. Still getting helicopters and Blackhawks over head once a day or so (maybe surveillance?) . Today and the next two are record high temps and single digit humidity so I hope campers, atv'ers and anyone who drives a vehicle avoids going over hot dry grass with a hot catalytic converter are smart the fire danger.

Hope your all doing well. I haven’t had time to read this thread in a while. Gonna have to catch up!

I got home at 1:30 am this morning. We had an emergency call to one of the bigger rotaries we service last night on my way home and I turned around and went north. Then I recieved an all hands on deck request for another rotary with issues and went west... They had the raceway where all the wires run through get caught in the drive wheels and smash the housing, tear out most of the wires and air lines. It was a long night.

Needless to say full 10 cup pot of coffee made today and now I’m off to another emergency at a different rotary. :bug::picard:

Hope you all have a good day! It’s raining here which is great! It feels awesome outside!

Looks like we might be in for the third afternoon of severe weather. My small wood shed had a tree blown onto it yesterday, neighbor the day before. I bet we had 60+mph winds yesterday. 20180627_082318.jpg

Tomorrow starts and hot and humid heat wave for the next 6 or so days here in NJ! High 90's this weekend :hair:. My AC unit is an older tank of a unit, think it's a late 90's model. My home is approx 2,000 Sq ft, mostly shaded, insulation is very poor and something I need to work on and a challenge with my walk in attic. My bills are not bad we have natural gas and on a budget for $103 a month, hoping to cut that in half with the new insert this fall. Electric is on a budget for I think like $132 a month.
