Did some more clean out at the edge of the woods. Should have taken before pictures since 7/9 of the stuff is from one chipmunk/rat den that had been growing this spring and was 4' tall by about 5-6' in diameter. Chipmunks had been using it but a rat took over a month ago and built it up. I was happy to see that the rat has moved elsewhere (they have multiple dens according to my research) so there was no smelly midden to deal with. Chippy came around about 4:45 and it was comical watching him look for his den/cover. He would even jump on the three small stumps and look around to find out where it went to. Well, if he really wants to, he can find the stacks of wood waiting to be packed in the truck for a dump run (Thursday), but all the leaves and twigs are all bagged up.

This is where the den was

    Pile of wood from den

Another pile of wood - Most from another section of the woods
    wood pile by raised beds.jpg

7-8' lengths so I'll need to break out the chainsaw before loading them into the truck
    long wood by raised bed.jpg

7 lawn and leaf bags full of leaves and smaller detritus that was packed between the branches that made up the den. Not pictured are 2 more bags of leaves and brush from the other section I was finishing up.

Cart full of smaller limbs that I will pile in the truck. 9/10 of the stuff is from the den area and only a few branches are from the area pictures (which I had already mostly cleaned out a couple of weeks ago.

So now I have about 30 feet of the woods cleaned up and easily two truck loads to go to the dump. It's going to be a long summer at this rate.

Oh - and Flowers are blooming.

Yes, it has been a week of challenges. Actually the who spring was havoc. Sometimes you sit back and ask yourself just how much you brought on yourself. Sometimes, there are no good answers. The bright spots are that Cindy is getting better, and that we had great fun at the GTG. We met up with some wonderful folks. My remaining lab, Molly, pictured in the Avatar is getting along OK. she is right by side every time I go out of the house. It has to be hard on her not to have her partner around. I took her for a ride yesterday. Bought her a hamburger and an ice cream. She didn't much care for the ice cream. My son is talking about getting a dog. that will be good.
Cindy has been sick to her stomach and having other annoying issues since being on the medication. She took her last pill last evening, but the side effect has yet to move on. I was once on it for a month trying to get rid of my Lymes + test. Recently tested again, this time came back neg. The ticks I've had on me this year are dog ticks.
The grandkids put in the rest of my seedlings today. So now I am all set with the few things I have in the vegetable garden.

At least you know you are not providing a home for vermin. Around here, we would pile that up and burn it, but most likely that is not practical where you are.

Maybe you'd pile it up and burn it, we pile ours into the van and dump it. Burning can be inconvenient around here. Can do the burning but not at the current time. Have to get the papers the day of here.

Not legal since I don't have enough distance from any structures - and since I am near the center of town would be caught for sure.

Hey, and all they have to do is move into the swamp next door. Not like I'm really inconveniencing them that much, but at least I don't have to look out the back door and see them ;)

    Same here.

Funny first thing I though when I saw the pile-put in truck and hail it? Nope-burn it

Plenty of room here. Only limiting factor is dry conditions and I am over the top careful there. We use to do large burn piles but those are way too much work to keep under control so now we burn in a smaller pit. Dont get rid of it all at once but it goes.

Same for us, But we can do little burns in the fire pit. So I save the sticks and branches. Makes for a nice evening with a brew or 2 or 3...... :D

I spent the weekend at the farm prepping our lumber drying/storage area for a concrete floor. its 15' X 26', about 8 yards of concrete at 6".

since it was ready, I called my flat work guy this morning. He'll pour it tomorrow noon, as he had a small gap in his schedule. Great!

We have several things that need to be finished up for our July 14,15 show. The big Fairbanks might run! we have the air start connected, water primary circuit done, oil and fuel nearly done. guys were grouting the base when I left yesterday.

Lots of shopping & running around today. It was a Top 10 day outside, so I put the first coat of deck paint on the front.

2nd coat tomorrow evening IF I get home from work early enough.
Then the back deck.....probably on Friday. Time now for :coldone: and :grizz:

I can't even have a fire pit because town requires 50' distance from any "structure".

The website doesn't state that there is a ban yet.

Well the boss took the kids to pick strawberries this morning, so it is quiet around here.

I ain't liking that but I can understand why. I would be more concerned with other things such a slash and leaf piles.

What! you didn't want to go with them? Honestly, I would go picking if I could go picking, but that is not realistic anymore. Now I just go to the markets and buy whatever it is I think I might want or need. It hurts to pay 6 bucks for strawberries, but as soon as I am driving away, I forget about it. I've been trying to find some beet greens, but no luck so far. I want to try another market today.
