Ouch!! Had you noticed in the past whether or not you'd see lots of smoke when they were burning? Any idea if it's a clay tile chimney? Liner? Woodstove, insert or fireplace? We've had several chimney fires in my town this winter...

No one home at time of fire. I don't know what kind of FP or stove at this point. The house is over 1000' off the road. So the fire trucks had to run hose for 1000' The tanker trucks had trouble getting up the driveway quickly. Just as the firemen were entering the front door the chimney collapsed and we could see the firemen jumping out of the way. No one injured that I know of.

Glad no one was injured. Always sad to see something of that magnitude, happen to someone's home.

As noted above, please keep us updated on any further details.

Wow, never know what your gonna see looking out your back door. I'm glad nobody was home and at the same time I'm sorry for their loss.
I'm guessing they weren't FHC members, or members of other another forum.

Scary deal - same thing here at my homestead, off the road but at least the hydrant is straight through the woods to the house.
I actually keep a path cleared and grass cut around it incase something ever goes bad here.

Probably find out it was a slammer install - The way the flames were engulfing the soffet
