Almost forgot that I attempted to smoke a chuck roast yesterday. The Masterbuilt does not work well in the Summer. The heater never stays on long enough to ignite the wood chips. I had to keep opening the door to finally get some smoke. 9 hours in and I had to pull it. Couldn’t get temps on the roast past 184°. It got pretty dried out. I may have to steam it later on.

Can’t seem to Get a pic to load today.:headbang:

This will sound weird but bought it online from Lowe’s! I had a $100 gift card from doing a tree job and I was in the market for a slicer myself.
Shop Chef'sChoice 1-Speed Gray Food Slicer at Lowes.com
Funny thing is I had to make the roast just to try the slicer.

How's the quality on that slicer?

I've eyed a couple over the years, but unsure of the quality since most everything is plastic these days.

Looking good !!! Though my preference is more on the rare side.

I cooked up some burgers and steak tips last night-enough for some good leftovers for a few nights. No pics though, just your basic burgers and tips.

Tell you the truth for a touch over $100 it is fairly heavy duty! The sliding carriage and the piece that holds the meat against the “fence” is probably the sloppiest part with some wiggle. It doesn’t affect much though otherwise it’s mostly metal. I’m happy with it especially after stopping and looking at some slicers and seeing the $800 plus price tags!!! It sure beat trying to hand slice!!

Yeah it got away from me a touch.... still plenty juicy though and made some good sandwiches. Guess that’s what happens when your cooking a roast and working in the shop at the same time.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. $100 is a good price too. I’ve got a HD gift certificate. I might check them out too

I think I’ll order the same one from HomeDepot because I already have the gift card. Didn’t get a chance today as the grandkids unexpectedly came over. In facilities think I’ll order it now.

Well, they don’t have it in stock in any store near me and it’ll take till the 26th -29th. Going to Costco tomorrow to see what they have. If nothing’s there I’ll just have to wait.

Finally got it to upload. Didn’t even want to take a pic of the finished product.

Al, which Masterbuilt do you have? I got the bigger propane one for Christmas which I still have yet to assemble...been lazy about it. But all these pics are getting me more motivated.

I’ve got the 30” electric with the Bluetooth connection to my iPhone and the glass door. The Bluetooth is terrible because it only works about 30 feet. If I go in the house I lose the connection. I should have gotten the RF remote model.

Get that thing up and running. The propane one is supposed to be great. It’s much easier to get temps right and it’ll give you plenty of smoke. I got a smoke tube in yesterday so I can smoke in the summer with The Masterbuilt or the Weber Kettle. I can even use the gas grill. I wanted it so I could also cold smoke cheese.

I ordered the slicer from Home Depot this morning. All the reviews I’ve read have this slicer rated as the best. Probably be a week or so to get it. Thanks again for the tip.

No problem!:handshake: I think you will like it. Especially if you’ve never used one before. It is sure nice for a lot of things! Especially if you make much jerky!

I never used one before. This winter I’ll try jerky again. Hand slicing is a pain. Now I should get even cuts on brisket and pork loin.

My parents had a stainless steel one when we were growing up. Heavy SOB.

Of course, also be careful handling the blade, they are razor sharp.

Guess What? The slicer is coming in today. I only ordered it yesterday. They originally said between the 25-28th. Now I gotta find something to slice.
