Let's see those bikes

Took a little stroll after work today. My buddy liked mine so much he got one for himself.

 

Rode with a group of gals for International Female Ride Day. Had awesome weather and our first time ride captain took us thru a great route!

 

I took my bike for a little cruise yesterday. All set to take into work.

So I did. Rode into work today, and I will again tomorrow. I almost forgot that this motor needs 91 octane, not the 87 my TLS motor needed. Caught that just before I selected the fuel after running my card.

 

I have yet to break the seal this year. Getting antsy.

 

Took the bike again today. Got about 150 miles on it this season already. I won't ride to work tomorrow though, as it's supposed to rain pretty good.

 

Took a vacation day today. Weather was perfect!

Visited DucPond to get my desmo service reminder turned off.

Crossed a ferry



And stopped at the local VFW for a shot next to an F14 Tomcat.

 

Ready for the the daily commute home.

 

Changed the oil in both bikes and got new tires on the wing. sheesh, they wasn't cheap.

 

Hmmm. Nice day wandering. Oh, and wetting a line!

 

Ended up with both my bikes @ the open house today. My nephew's R1 had a stator fail so he rode my Honda.




Very please with the charts/numbers. I need to shim the needles a bit, other than that she's still strong after 10 years of flogging.

 

Got in my first solo, going to no where in particular ride in for the season. Most riding is commuting, then going to/from meetings, and then I've been on 3 LOH/HOG rides (unusual for me to do that many in a season). Anyway, found a pretty pond with a convenient and empty parking lot across the road to take a water break (pun was not intentional - I needed to drink water).

 

I had to replace the fuel pump gasket on my bike. That wasn't that fun, but I got it to seal after using some fuel resistant gasket maker on the new style gasket I got off of eBay.



Not a horrible job but a putzy one. Those screws only take 4 ft/lbs of tq.

All good, ready to ride tomorrow.

 

That's an unusual failure...

 

Nice scenery there. I gotta get up that way sometime. Never been to the Northeast States.

I ride almost exclusively solo. I have several nice spots that I stop at for breaks. Get off the bike and walk around a bit to keep from getting saddle sore.

 

Not really. It's the price of being an innovator in the industry instead of using ancient fueling technology. .There's a ton of high tech stuff on this bike that elicits responses on non belief to my statement that the bike is over 20 years old. It always gets the gawkers when I'm with other sportbikes, even if the other bikes are brand new.
This was one of the first efi bikes, and there was actually a revised 2 piece gasket that was installed as a recall/ free service bulletin. Some leaked within months. Mine went after 21 years. The original was a 1 piece and it didn't work well, apparently. Mine was a very early build 97, the first year.

Later Suzuki bikes that were efi went with a round regular o ring. Much better and simpler the o ring is.

 

Well, first one I have ever heard of or seen...and we had a few of them that would come into the shop.
Those are cool bikes though...and sound oh so sweet!

 

I'll have to get you a video of it while I'm riding it. The full yoshimura pipes sound awesome, and it has just the right deceleration crackle and pop.


Search "leaky fuel pump gasket on motorcycle" and you'll see older SRAD gsxr's, then Hondas, then Moto guzzi, then Aprilia. After a few ones down you'll see a tl1000r, which had a bit different seal/ gasket, but they had some issues too. You'll see more brands and models after a few more pages of google. I'm sure ethanol fuel didn't help.

It's really not that bad of a fix, just it seems to always happen at an inoportune time.

I had a light rain on part of my ride in to work today, but I didn't get soaked.

I tested out my new gloves that my pups gave me for Papa's Day.

The way home was more widespread drizzle, but I stayed even drier.


I'll take the bike tomorrow too.

It's all about the overrun!! My triple makes such sweet music burbling and popping during deceleration. Then, you get the intake howl at 8k when you starting rolling back on. A symphony any motor head would love. Man.......I need to go for a ride! Screw you, rain!!!! Go away!!
